Lately I've been playing a lot of ICCUP, and since I cannot make games due to firewall I have to join. Basically pub games are dissected into 3 categories: MOTW, Python, and Destination. It seems like just about every time I join a game on Python a Protoss made it and every time I join a game on Destination a Terran made it. Goddamn I'm so tired of playing vs 2-gate on Python and mech on desti

When Python and Desti are maps of the week, I really dont want to play at all that week.

anyone else getting this?

Why is 2 gate such a popular strat in PvZ on python?

starting locations are pretty close except for cross-positions (and even then not very far away)

Let them say we lived in the time of Boxer, Emperor of Terran. Let them say we lived in the time of Nal_rA, Dreamer of Protoss. Let them say we lived in the time of Savior, Master of the Zerg.

Haha...I had your same problem with the firewall. I ironically had the same python problem with protoss...my win rate was something abysmal like 20 percent. I came back from school without the firewalling and started making my own games and playing against FE toss. Now my win rate is like 60%.

As for Terran, I just don't play destination. I don't like that map at all, though I know a lot of people do.

Zergs are from Heartbreak Ridge and God's Garden.
Venture Capital is better off spent on lottery tickets rather than investing in E-Sports; you'll get a far better return. The difference is simple: Koreans are tryharding at the game, foreigners are tryharding in real-life.

I hate when zergs complain that protoss players aren't doing fe. I could see a zerg complaining that they always do fe, but that's another issue.

Lair zerg mid/early game too imba, 2 gate allows sick pressure (early win if they fuck up and power too hard) and very easy denial of third while allowing a simple 2nd. FE lets zerg roam very free while P does a cookie-cutter beat all kinda strategy in hopes of securing a 3rd base. With 1 base opener on Python, zerg can't safely take 3rd unless they know how to stop 1 base P and most Z now don't know the hax so it's a good opener.

Also, I pretty much always place third hat in nat on Python ZvP. :/

I play toss and host on python :D
I also offrace on python, I basically play all my games on python unless I play people on #teamliquid couse they hate it.

I FE on python, but I hate all the crap I get for it.. like hydra break, or fast drops in the main.
I've found that skipping stargate and go straight for 4 gate zealot/archon build to be the safest, couse I just cant power cannon fast enough if I see 2 hatch hydra.

its a horrible opener, stopping 2 gate pressure is easy with modern zergling micro, and without the early corsair protoss is in the dark. Zerg can do ANY tech transition he wants- lurker contain, drop, muta, whatever, and crush the protoss. Any kind of 1 base opening is known for giving good aggression/harras potential early game but giving an almost crippling mid game because its just so damn vulnerable. Which, because of the bad mid game, means it has a bad late game. Go one base against bad zergs? Sure. Against good zergs you are giving them a free win.

Python isn't a noob map, it's a classic. ><

I don't see why a "noob" would be more likely to win on python than on a newer map, especially going on the assumption that their opponent is not a noob and has therefor already played 1000 hours on python. If a new player picks up a map right as it comes out and finds a way to exploit it before others have, that's the best chance he has of beating a veteran.

I've never found a map to be boring. Sure, some of them have big issues or can even be terrible, but never boring. The pacing of map pools over the years seems to cater to seven year olds with severe cases of attention deficit disorder.

On the contrary, I can easily see low-level Zergs complaining that Protoss players are not doing FE. Generally, low-level Protoss do not know how to do a FE opening or related builds properly. Plus, their scouting tends to fail them. For that reason, they leave themselves immensely vulnerable to practically anything Zerg throws at them. Hydra all-ins and 3 hatch Mutas in particular are devastating and game-ending since the Protoss player very often will not have enough Storms or anti-air to deal with it.

Er... I'm not sure what your point is.

Zergs shouldn't complain that protoss aren't doing strategies that they are terrible at. The only thing that I would be okay with them complaining about is that the other race forces the game into a very similar/boring style every time. But if the other race is mixing it up, or playing different strategies depending on the map, then they just need to deal.
