I just finished playing 9 games on ICCup, and I have a pretty good idea how my game is now.
My game is crap.
I went 3-6, and got absolutely rolled several times. A couple of times I got torn up and had no idea why, and unexpected numbers of troops came at me, which tells me I really don't understand the matchups properly. I'll link to the replays so you can see where I'm starting at.
My next step is to take one build order and try to learn it to the T. I noticed several people suggested the same thing in my last post, so it's nice to have a little confirmation that I'm taking a reasonable approach.

Yes please stick to a single build order and learn all of its adaptations. Alot of the time on iccup people will do whacky shit and you need to know how to respond to that even if pros never have to deal with things like that. If they have more units than you that tells you that you arent macroing good enough or at the right time.

I think a build for a matchup should be a baseline sort of like how it's not a bad idea to learn a single common opening in chess (a single line) and slowly branch outward in your studies as you play more until you are comfortable with more variations.

So is this a help thread or something...? It sounds like you are asking for advice, so maybe try making a thread in the strategy forums, don't include the 3 games you won though(or all 6 either!), unless you know you only won them because your enemy was horrible and suicided his army for no reason or something.

I think he's just sharing his replays and anyone with tips is free to give them.

I'm not looking for tips, I'm trying to improve my game and documenting how I do it along the way.

Well, at least you're not alone, man. Haha. I've been playing the game over 10 years as well, and my skill level has never really increased dramatically. I guess I always treated it somewhat casually with a few buddies, and just lately am starting to really utilize hot keying. You know how you mentioned the 3 steps you take with Starcraft (play, get owned, play) in the last post? Yeah, me too. Lol.
Anyway, I enjoy reading your blog entries. I just randomly came across it while doing a search. I find myself in a similar place as I'm starting to see that I can easily get better and I really want to improve my Starcraft skill.
