Evy's toothache had been getting worse after Christmas, so we mainly chilled out at home. This actually suited us just fine, since we were having the laziest holidays we both ever had. I did get some grinding in last couple of days of the year. I started the last session of the year december the 30th, and it lasted till about 5 p.m. the 31st. It was absolute pain and horror. I have been running really bad last 2 weeks of december, but so far I hadn't lost a lot. This session was different though. I was playing mostly 10-20 and 25-50 due to soft holiday tables, I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. On 25-50 I lost AK vs AA vs ADZ 3 handed pf allin and then top pair vs naked flushdraw for another 13k pot. This is all pretty standard of course, but it just kept on going. It's really frustrating, especially cause all the pots I was losing were on the higher tables.
Every New Year the last 3 years I have been doing really bad, losing respectively 40k, 500k and 130k over the past 3 years in the last week of the year. I was really trying to do it differently this year, but alas. I ended up losing about 40k in the session, feeling really bad. I actually had to quit because I was angry and my play was definitely suffering from the way I felt. I guess I'm doing less bad each year or something, so maybe next year I will win during New Year . It was a good thing I was at Evy's house. It really helps me be calm emotionally, even though I have gotten a lot better at that, and I believe I am at a point right now I barely say anything when I am playing online and losing. I need to be a Terminator!!! The rest of the evening we just chilled, played some games and watched TV, which to us was awesome . Here's a little movie to end the holidays with officially. Props to Evy for finding it.
PCA
After the downswing the last day of the year, I luckily recovered and booked 2 very nice wins on 3-6 the next 2 days. I'm really gonna need some confidence back, so I'll probably be on 3-6 for the next 150k hands or so I.E. 5 SESSIONS LOL. I have been playing pretty long sessions, but more about that later. The last 2 days we just chilled and prepared ourselves for a vacation on the Bahamas.
I had never been to the PCA, also because of the downswings near the end of the year mentioned above. This time I was really excited, even though we found out it's a 10 hour flight from Vegas. Thats kind of ridiculous. We had to fly north to Philadelphia first. I'm not a big fan of travelling, but the trip went by lightning quick. We arrived in a sunday 25 degrees celcius (fuck fahrenheit, I have no idea) Bahamian paradise. The airport was laidback and we got through in no titme. We ran into Pieter de Korver (winnar of a big poker tv show in holland) and his buddy Erik. It was fun meeting them and they are really nice. We shared a cab to go to the resort. Bahamas reminded me of spain turkey and hawaii, in 1 big mix.
When we got to the hotel, sadly our room wasn't ready yet, so we hung out in the lobby, being completely exhausted. When we finally had a chance to go to our room we were so tired, that our nap lasted 9 hours in stead of the regular single hour. We woke up at 11 pm and were too late for any welcome parties or drinks that were on the island. The pokerstars parties are fun, but sleep is important too, especially seeing we had to both play the next day. We hung out in the lobby some and then went to bed. Day 1 was my exit day, but Evy had a good stack to start day 2. She eventually busted somewhere in day 2 3-betting pf with KJ and getting it in on QTx vs AQ, standard. On day 2 of the main event, I played a 2k sideevent, but I wasn't really feeling like poker and it cost me in concentration. This made me decide to not play any side-events anymore and to live beach life. The resort is awesome and contrary to what I have heard previous to coming here, the surface is good so far too.
So everything is nice and life is good, but there is one disadvantage to the PCA. There are 2 many people. It's like everywhere you look you see people you know from live tournaments or online, and there is just no time to hang out with everyone. Evelyn and I have been kind of kicking it together, going to the pool and having a senior citizen schedule. I have not been playing at all and we really wanna look at the PCA as a vacation, not a poker trip, after the main event. It's just hard to hang out everywhere and I think it's best to just try not to. Yesterday we had a nice dinner with some people though . Tonight we're going to have dinner with apestyles and maridu, who are the shit.
I have also been doing a lot of webcasting when the tournament came towards it's end. I really enjoy doing it and I hope I can do it sometimes for regular tv. Reading has been taking a lot of my time though. We've been reading a lot of Batman comics (comic books of the classic superheroes are not big at all in Holland, so I have never read one until now) and I have been reading in the Annie Rice vampire books. Too bad we cannot play any guitar hero here :$. I have been playing some more lately after slopping. Here's a vid of something I recorded. One of the awesomestest songs in the game.
We're gonna leave here the 12th to return to Vegas. I wanted to go to Deauville, but I can't leave Vegas before the 17th. That means we get to Europe on the 18th, and then the 19th we would have to drive to Deauville for 5 hours. It's icecold in Europe and since I don't think the chance of me going to Deauville if we do end up going to Europe on the 17th, is that big. I might as well stay in Vegas and put in some grinding hours.
Supernova Elite Side Bet
I have been thinking about a supernova elite sidebet in 2008, but I went for the 3-6 and under bet in stead. This year I really wanna go for it. I was aiming for a bet where I had to make SNE before day 1 of the WSOP main event. However, some stuff has come up and I'm gonna have to travel a lot. That's why I might change the deadline to august first, or I want better odds.
Bet:
Raszi needs to be supernova elite before day 1 of ME, or august 1st, this needs to be decided.
Stipulations:
- I'm not allowed to grind sit and go's. With grinding I mean multitabling. I am allowed to play a sit and go once in a while, just not multitable them or play high volume of them.
- I'm not allowed to grind limit cash.
- I'm not allowed to have someone else play on my account.
- If I have an accident or not able to control a mouse the bet is off. I trust everyone knows I won't break my own arm or something.
- If decided it's going to be august first in stead of WSOP ME day 1, I am obligated to pursue all the traveling listed later.
- I want 2:1 in case of august 1st or 3:1 for WSOP ME. but more about those details later.
More stipulations might follow, but this is just to give an indication. So give it some thought I'll update the threads about it when I get back to vegas.
