I started playing iccup to improve. There will be 2 LANs in April, the Hungarian Infinity LAN and the Czech Rymarov Spring. ....and my goal is to win these! (this is probably impossible but I don't care)
From now on, I start mass gaming, and I'll try improve my terran tremendolously. I will update my blog regularly with my improvements/standings. Honestly, till now I never practiced hard to get anywhere at BW.. I wonder how much a guy like me can improve under about 3 months.
About my skills: -about 150-170 APM ----> i wanna raise this without too much spamming, goal is 250-300 range with 35-40% hotkey
-TvP : I am struggling -TvZ : I have holes in my game, but I am not that bad till later stages of the game -TvT : I have no idea about this
I play BW/watch progames for 5 years, so I think I have quite good strategical understanding of the game- from outside. Being inside the match, and doing the decisions from there is much harder for me.
My nick on iccup is ezterran. Feel free to add me, if you are interested in practicing OR if you would be nice enough to mentor me a bit.
Probably I will flood the strategy forum asking for help with replays, just like this blog.
PS. Thanks Naruto for the replays and help (he's a nice guy, you know)

Good luck man. Keep us updated on your progress. By the way, is this your first LAN event?

To give you a quick, brief breakdown of the match ups and how to play:
TvP: it really boils down to a macro war. Tanks and Vults and if you see anything that flies (carrier/arbiter/shuttles) get some gols. Gols don't do so well against the dragoon/vulture army. Upgrades are very important. A 3-3 ball is what you want to achieve. When you push out, bring 3 scvs to make turrets to ward off obs, drop and stasis. Float ebay/rax in front of tanks for extra vision. Oh and mine around you. Very key. Oh and if you contain, feel free to build supplies and or land your ebay and rax in front of their army so that when they break, the zealots have to walk a bit of extra to squeeze through certain points.
TvZ: My favourite match up. The norm is to go MnMs. I rarely use mech so I am not going to elaborate on that. If you are going to go SKTerran (Vessels with Irradiate) I usually get about 9 rax to replenish your army. This requires a high amount of micro and the ability to multitask "well." Oh and please, two Starports for SKTerran. Before SKTerran, I mixed a tanks in my army to deal with lurkers, with one or two vessels. Dropship play is very, very important. It does two main things: Destroy tech, and denies expos. The order of killing tech should be in the strategy forum. Once you have your vessels out and about, use your comsats to constantly scan for expos. Don't let it sit there and accumulate 200 energy. Once I see a hatchery in construction or a brand new hatchery (with two or three drones) I immediately scoop up 7 marines and a medic to take it down because if they sunken up and add lurkers, it will be a bitch to take down.
TvT: erm...uh...I don't know XD.

Thanks I know more or less these things, but I am looking for the little details which cant be seen by watching outside

I'm switching to terran as well! This shit is difficult though, so much general mousework. While I believe that mentally it is easier than zerg (at the lower levels anyway) it is definitly more mechanically demanding
|
Terran is incredibly hard to get used to. Mass games on ICCUP and of course, see what you did wrong. That's what I somewhat did. I tried not to repeat my mistakes and make sure my macro/basics had no holes. My scouting has also increased tremendously.
I did that over many period of games and I feel like it's a part of me now and I can do it naturally.

I'm switching out of Terran now. Deciding what race to pick up. So hard to choose

why do you switch?

Hey! Good luck!
Well, last I checked Effort over at Gosugamers is looking for some Terran students, and I hear he's around B skill level. Might be worth looking into.

edit: he wrote he wants his student be at least c+
I found that strelok wrote here, he would teach for money, he already gave a 3 month course for a guy! I am considering this.. Is it worth paying for leaning BW ~

Just a comment about your APM goal.
Its very hard to get from 170 to 250-300 in 3 months... But a general advice that allowed me do have 240+ every game is DON'T FORGET. Don't Forget to add supplies, Don't Forget to make units, Don't Forget to scout, Don't Forget about the dropship you've just built, Don't Forget to upgrade ASAP, Don't Forget to make SCVs, Don't Forget to scan tech, Don't Forget to lay mines in your main if you see an Arbiter, Don't Forget to move your army, Don't Forget to space your tanks in a push, etc, etc, etc
If you remember all that stuff with time the speed you execute these actions will increase "magically" ^^
BTW, what is your current rank on iCCup?

last season i had d+ now D with 10-18 or something like that ~
i know i suck

I'm about the same level as you then ^^

replay every game and try and fix those mistakes dramatically(overdoing it the next game) that might get your apm and skill level raised and try to keep calm in mid game i'm zerg/ex-terran i might be up for some tvz if you want

GL HF... i wish there were more LANs in my area.... the list of Donts are great ... and a tip, dont forget were the dropship is... i dono how many ive lossed to scurge because i lost where it was
And if you do get huge results tell us what u did
|
don't pay money for SC lessons, totally not worth it unless you think you will plausibly get money off of those LANs and that these lessons will garuntee you that money...

I got bored of mech and TvZ isn't as interesting as it used to be. SK Terran isn't as fun as it was a few week ago for some reason. Maybe I just need a break

I'd love to play some PvTs. Most of the terrans I end up playing on Iccup end up being like 300+APM players who destroy me in ways that will haunt me forever. I'd love to get some games in around my level that aren't against smurfs or new accounts.. at least when I lose those it feels like I might have had a shot at winning which is incredibly helpful for me to get better. I'm around the same level as you on iccup I think, at 14-20. Half of my losses are to Koreans, but PvT is probably my worst matchup (my vZ and vP might argue otherwise though, lol). PM me and I'll hop on iccup!

That's interesting. I'd always figure anyone who can break the 150apm threshold could at least hit the C ranks. I wonder where all that apm is going.
|
It seems like a clear majority of the people I've been playing at D have had at least 100 APM (only a few were sub100) and quite a few were 150+ and higher. Maybe its the timezone I play in though
|
you can find me for some tvp on iccup, im not good but i can make a fight. (D+ ~160 apm P user)

I am not good. I have a lot of situations, where I don't know what to do with Terran. I played about 50-60 games since I changed my race from Protoss. Previously I had 190-220 APM with that race.
Thanks for all the offered help, I will probably PM you some time.

Add me on iCCup, my account is Chishiki[BoB], for some practise games;)
