Oakhill was more than a man. Between writing his world renowned blog, working his 300# bench press, dominating the boards in basketball, and defending his status as #2 Warcraft III random player, Oakhill always made time for his secret love: Brood War. Even with all his talents and interests, Oakhill was a dedicated father to two beautiful boys. The loss of their father is a devastating blow.
Though not talkative by nature, Oakhill was always gracious enough to share his opinions by popular demand. His insights into every matter were searing, and always concise and witty.
In spite of his obvious greatness, Oakhill was irreversibly modest. Oakhill's blogging was never about himself, but bettering this community. He would graciously accept compliments, but never talked of his own greatness.
Oakhill's last days were troubled: he battled worsening leukemia and was embroiled in controversy over his misunderstood commentary on Starcraft II. Nobody however, anticpated this abrupt departure. Perhaps Oakhill himself did, as in his last days he spoke eloquently and frequently of "Seeing over the last hill". He spoke of playing Starcraft II, sinking 3 pointers, and benching 400. Oakhill was in much pain his last few days, refusing all pain medication.
You can read about Oakhill's exploits and his softer, personal side in his autobiography, Oakhill: Man or Savior?. Though he never finished his autobiography, his magnum opus, the rough fragments reveal the man behind the legend.
I speak as just one man, one member of this mighty forum. My grief is real, but I don't speak for the community.
This Blog is meant in memory to Oakhill. Leave your comments, condelences, and Oakhill stories. Let this great community show how much Oakhill meant.

I'm a comedic genius rivalled only by Carlin, Hedberg, and Oakhill himself.

Truly a hilarious man.

he made consistently shitty posts

Was he IP-banned, or just banned?

Actually, the raw writing of this blog was pretty good. Although I personally thought the specifics you used to describe Oakhill was a bit wordy, your overall writing flowed pretty smoothly. The latter parts of your writing looked more polished. Keep writing those.

Graystache, nooooooooooo!!,,,, wait, oakhill?..
|
hahah that logo is awesome. as is the autobiography title extolling his modesty

I'm only trying to write in a style Oakhill himself would appreciate. I cower in the shadow of the great man. Yes my post is bombastic, but Oakhill lived in bombast and reveled in grandiloquence.

May he keep on trolling in Ban-heaven.

wtf? Do the mods have no sense of humour? Come on. Jesus christ. That guy was entertaining to read and no one took him seriously. I see no reason why he should of been permanently banned.
|
but never talked of his own greatness. That was all he did, lol.
The fact that your post mimics his writing style so easily shows how not hard it is to do
Mastermind, he made a lot of low quality posts and contributed nothing. A lot of the time he'd make posts about his posts (showing graphs of his popularity). If he had been an active member in strategy and BroodWar forums, I'm sure there would have been leniency, if even praise. But as it was he was some random who liked to talk about himself. His garbage belongs on LiveJournal (or maybe he can get his own domain called "OakHill") and there's only so much anyone can read of it before getting bored or becoming obsessive for the sake of being obsessive.
PS: If you can't tell, I'm biased and I personally hated his blogs.

This is a tragedy

Fuck.... I just checked the banned thread. I don't think he should be banned. I mean that thread he made in sc2 was silly but it looks like he put a lot of time into it. We shouldn't be such nazi's about a guy who is just trying to play around a bit. Lighten up TL!

That guy annoyed the crap out of me. I'm glad he's gone.
