also, look for something like 100% potato chips without any trans fat, salt, and etc. most of them are not mainstream, but you can still find them. they might be a bit more pricy though, but it's healthier and it's not like you're eating a garbage. ![]()

i did find some potato chips with less salt, but i'd still like even less lol. (but as i hear, in terms of nutrition, fried starch is bad no matter what lol. on the other hand, they say the skins on potatos and sweet potatos are highly nutritious.)

Btw you can make your own yogurt too, and there's already a thread about a potato chip maker.

Yeah if you eat a shovel full everday for a couple years, otherwise you're fine.

theyre so good ![]() the food my parents cook at home has little salt, and im used to eating that food with just the taste of the food itself, rather than salt or condiments or whatnot. as for yogurt, you can buy containers of them that say "Plain," or similar, which is just yogurt, nothing else. then you can mix in other yogurt, sort of diluting it so that theres not as sweet. or even better, just use the plain yogurt with various fruits, berries, granola, etc. edit - btw, i think its a really good sign that youre disliking too salty or sugary foods. its bad for you, so its good that your body hates it. you should be worried when you start liking foods with too much salt/sugar, and eating that, you slowly become more tolerant, and need more sugar/salt to satisfy your taste. dont want that to happen!

does putting fruits in plain yogurt have the same effect as a flavored yogurt, besides the fact that there is less sugar? (sipmly plain is so nasty lol) kettle chips are the thick chips right? kind of expensive and come in small bags? i've also tried the kirkland potato chips taht says it has no msg, preservatives and "whatchumacallits". but the smell is so alluring and overpowering, i'm still suspicious of them haha. ever try kirkland chips? fruit in yogurt: its different in that theres the yogurt taste plus the fruit taste (strawberries and blueberries for me), plus whatever else you put in. in regular fruit flavored yogurt (and ones with fruit chunks in them), theres no yogurt taste, just fruit/sugary or whatever flavor it is. kinda weird to describe. try it out yourself and see if you like it

Most things in excess will kill you, aspartame isn't poisonous in small dosages (such as in many diet and regular sodas). That rat poison example is stupid btw. It just shows you totally missed the point of what I said. If aspartame was causing all this cancer and was poisonous do you think the FDA and other agencies would allow it? Sugary foods give you diabetes if you use it excessively and aspartame causes health issues if you use it excessively, but if you regulate yourself and don't go shove a tunkload of aspartame down your throat you'll be fine.

Dude - how long have you lived in America? Don't eat anything from a package, man, it's just salt and sweetener mixed in with whatever was cheap and might vaguely pass as almost comestible. As as been suggested, head to the produce section of your grocer and just buy the real ingredients before they've been screwed with. Greek yogurt is excellent - plain on müsli, mixed with a bit of fruit conserve, dashed onto a savoury dish, whatever. As for low-salt crisps, there's a fair selection on the market if you look around. Check out : http://www.taquitos.net/snacks.php?category_code=92

Unless they're plain salted, almost all flavoured potato/corn/rice snacks are loaded in MSG. To be fair, I actually like MSG - I think it's got a terrible rap for what it is, but too much is still too much. If you're not allergic to it, and most people aren't, MSG, I think, is a much better way to flavour your food than salt. Too much sodium is terrible for you and MSG can enhance flavour way better than salt per unit of sodium. Plus it's a pure salt of glutamic acid, which is an essential amino acid your body needs to make proteins. Another thing to look for on labels when scoping MSG is to look for things like "autolyzed yeast extract" or "yeast extract", which is exactly MSG, but derived from a natural yeast source, so they don't have to call it "MSG". And if you want to buy the stuff pure, Britain's greatest culinary legacy is what you're after - luscious Marmite ![]()

as for aspartame, you don't see people dropping over after a couple of sodas, but this one, i'm a little more concerned about than most other additives. thx for that site. my intetion isn't to debate food additives, but for food and health conscious people, it would be great to get resources that have worked for you, and we can all share our stuff and call out watchout's for each other. but hey, some people are more loose about what they put into their body. nothing wrong with that either.
