During Golden week, we left our little town called Tottori, and ventured into Osaka and Kyoto.
It was a lot of touring, so there isn't that much to blog on. I'll show some representative photos and add some captions.
Ironically, our trip started and ended with the same store (brilliant idea to open up a store in the train station). I had black sesame ice cream, and it was delicious.
A MacDonald's in Kyoto. This is interesting because, if you notice, the walls of this MacDonald's is not red, and the big 'M' is not yellow. The reason being, the city does not want the MacDonald's stores to attract too much attention, so that they don't overshadow the old temples and castles.
The Golden Pavilion Temple, or Kinkaku-ji. A temple entirely covered in gold.
A very Zen-ish mini waterfall inside of the park containing the aforementioned temple.
Where the Emperor used to live.
Kyoto station, top floor. The Kyoto Station is the newest and largest train (and bus) station in Japan, renovated just over two years ago. The station consists of eleven floors. There is a large stair case (accompanied by escalators) that will take you to each floor. As well, along its sides, there is a large eleven-floor shopping plaza. Very Japanese.
Koinobori...
The Floating Garden in Osaka. This is constructed on top of two tall buildings. Connecting the buildings are two large tubes encapsulating two escalators.
A random store called "Jesus Diamond". I was on the run, so the picture is a little slanted.
Awesome Takoyaki store.
And what is Takoyaki?
This place grills awesome crabs.
Osaka Castle.
Osaka Castle at night.
I really happen to like this picture...
This dragon-fish is the symbol of the Osaka Castle.
A street ramen shop found in Osaka. It's cool because there are no seats. You stand around the counter waiting for other customers to finish eating, and then you proceed to eat your food while standing up, couching over the counter.
Okonomiyaki. It's a fancy Japanese pie. The base of this pie is made from flour, eggs, and Japanese cabbage. Then you can choose a variety of toppings to put on your pie, such as seafood, fish, meat, etc.
A pretty cool place. You pay around 300 Yen to enter. You go up five floors to begin your tour, and your tour consists of three floors of old osaka style shops. A large variety of food is sold inside of this place.
More pictures of Takoyaki...
Last two...

Ohhhh goddd you make me so jealous. I miss Japan. I stayed in both cities for a while many years back, and it was a great time. I recognize the picture of the castle covered in gold, too. Very spectacular. Do you plan to visit Tokyo?

Girls dress really fashionably in Osaka, and some that I saw were extremely hot. It's a little difficult to take pictures of them though =/
Yea, I will begin doing an internship in the fall.

Don't forget to stop in at a curry shop. I know there's a few tucked away around that plaza area in Osaka w/ with giant crab.
Also, you should find a Starbucks and find out what time they give away free samples. Not that what they serve is any different, but Japanese people line up like crazy mother fuckers when it's free Frapaccino sample time and it's hilarious to watch.

The first time I noticed it was so hilarious. My family and I were resting in the Starbucks and around 12:55PM when we noticed a line of about 30+ people in business suits staring at us through the window. We figured there was some event going on next door or something, until at 1PM sharp when one of the employees went outside carrying a tray of 1oz Frappacino samples like those little cough syrup cups. I don't think any of them actually came in to buy a drink either.
