I have often wondered what this game that had strange units make noise all over the place was about. I kept seeing a strange audience of over 1000 fans light up the stadium with their balloons.
I saw July's highlights video. And that's when I fell in love with the game. At first I never thought graphics was a problem. I saw that for one who is interested in Strategy overall, this game was truly the Martini chocolate fudge dripping cheese cake (ya its that good).
And you have no idea how good it felt to win the first game in SC, albeit to another noob of War3 but these silly things matter a lot.
I love you Starcraft. And you know why? Because TeamLiquid showed me you in a different light. I was sorry I came to know you 10 years after you were born, but darling I'm here to stay.

ah, another one has seen the light! Clean post, I did the same move a few years ago after a semi-pro effort in Warcraft 3 for mtw (a german wc3 clan)
All in all I realized what a superior game Starcraft is when it comes to competative play. Wc3 can't really compare in regards of "best player wins most of the time" and balance. The amount of luck involved in Starcraft is minimal and the racial imbalance is slight at most - almost always depending on maps. The same can't be said about Wc3 and that's what's so beautiful about this game

good luck.
being a former casual war3 player (i played starcraft first, couldn't find cd, bought war3 cause friends were playing, found sc at target.), i find starcraft a lot more exciting than war3.
hopefully you'll feel that way too.
