Magic the Gathering Cube

I know my blog has been very starcraft focused as of late since I was working on A Look Back At Sc2 https://tl.net/forum/starcraft-2/571012-a-look-back-at-sc2-2010

I also have a secondary channel that I post up Magic the Gathering content. Normally I focus on Modern, both gameplay and deck techs but I wanted to do a series that focuses on another format, Cube Draft.

I posted up a tips and tricks to building a MTG Cube

Now I'm going to show off my Ravnica block constructed cube. That means that this cube can have cards from any of the 3 Ravnica blocks as long as they fit in with what I want each guild to represent in the cube. The first 3 guilds that I'm going to show off are Azorius, Dimir, and Izzet.

Aw shit, Ive always loved the idea of Block Cubes, and I've half assedly put together a basic skeleton for a Ravnica cube before, cool to see you've actually put the work in and made a full one!

I wish WotC didnt switch to this ping pong ass set structure where we're only on one plane for one set, it makes doing any other Block cubes so much harder...

Themes and gimmick cubes are great.
Time for school cube soon.

Yet there's lots of combat tricks.

Yeah I keep changing numbers and tweaking strats for specific guilds which has been a lot of fun, I've been working on it for years now. I keep trying to start a 2nd cube and then get sidetracked and end up turning those cards into multiple commander decks.

Yeah Izzet is pretty creature light (Rakdos, Gruul, Simic, Golgari are more creature heavy) but I'm trying to make each guild feel interesting and different not just specific to the normal cube color break down like blue only does this while red only does that. Making blue feel like it can shell into Izzet, Dimir, and Azorious while also having it fit the guilds identity (these blue cards feel izzet while these feel Dimir is fun and challenging.

As for homing lightning it is in there because Selesyna is all about token generation so having a way to board wipe those decks is needed ^_^, Might feel bad against Azourious or Dimir but that's the fun of the cube having enough cards that will be useful against multiple strats, worse case you just have it as sideboard and bring it in when you play against the player that drafted selsyna
