This weeks art pick is a well deserved one and is one that currently resonates with everyone in the eSports community.
Sarin “StarSoulArt” Singhasaneh’s rendition of, “Probius” is certainly a beautiful one. I came across this piece the day before news broke and was immediately captivated by how positive I felt just looking at it; The use of the bright colors amplifies that feeling. The use of the golden and metalic colors are on point along with the surface reflections from the blue LED’s.
I love how she managed make Probius feel unique and how perfectly the happiness of our lovable Probe was captured. The use of the soft curvature on Probius’ body adds that feeling as if you just said, “Thank you for being a friend.” The lid to the “energy projector” or the eye of Probius lets us know that our hard working probe is eternally grateful.
I managed to get in touch with Sarin and asked what the overall process was like:
“Oh nice to see my work from almost 2 years ago once more! I did this in Photoshop but unfortunately I did everything in 1 layer but I was able to recover a few images I captured during my WIP.
It took me around 2 days to render out everything.
I have to say it’s quite challenging to give an expression to a drone-like character. For the process you need certain amount of knowledge on how material reacts to light so, I’d say it’s difficult cause Probius is all gold and metal” — Sarin “StarSoulArt” Singhasaneh
