what theres no way thats true. as someone who plays on east canadians are generally the good mannered people americans are the assholes. Of course theres always exceptions. I think there way more good mannered then europeans who always seem to be elitest because there the best sc player in there country with 1 million people or low key passive aggressive and unfriendly also I always liked sweds of all the europeans wtf this troll list! Canadians always get mad because they know this list is true.
Honestly I have no idea how Canada got a reputation as a country of people with good manners. Maybe we are much better behaved as tourists but let ourselves go when we are back home? I think we really need to step it up if we want to think of ourselves as a polite people. Also isn't this a little off topic?

Not if you're in on the joke.

For me, being good is being able to convert my thoughts into the game. I want to move my units there. I want to cast X spell. I want to drop here while doing something else there.
Losing because you got outsmarted/had no idea what you were doing is okay. But losing continually to mechanical problems when the game is won strategically is very depressing to me.
What i mean by that is when you engineer yourself an advantage that you can't use properly. For example being well positioned in quake with a decent stack but dying to someone with perfect lg aim; or being a 200/200 3/3 terran against a protoss and dying because it's hard to destroy each of the million bases P has.
In such situations, thoughts are very clear : I lost because I suck. How can I not lose? By getting in that exact same situation thousands times more, until I get over that hump. But there are 2 problems :
Problem 1 is that it's very hard to actually feel like you're getting closer. In FPS, either you hit the shot, either you don't. It's difficult to understand that "I'm now hitting this shot 50% of the time, and a week ago this was 40%", or "I held 2 minutes in late game TvP chaos, before I coulld only hold for one minute". At least when you do bodybuilding you can count your reps while doing it and instantly notice that you could do one more.
Problem 2 is that after failing something you'd reallly like to get another shot to try it again. But when you play simple starcraft, you can't know if the same situation will happen the next game, or 10 games after that. Therefore, you know you sucked in situation X, but you can't put yourself back in X at will. That's BW in a nutshell. You know what you need to do and accomplish but there are lots of tasks that have to also be done and those take you off track. A good example in my case was one game where I was macroing like a champ at the time on HBR. I had 2-3 bases and had two large forces at the third and fourth base. I wanted to press both at the same time and force my opponent to divide his attention. Alas, I could never break either one and eventually, both my armies got pushed back and I lost soon after the contains were broken. All because I couldn't for the life of me control both armies well enough to do some damage. I also had to keep my macro going on top of this etc...
Also, I've lost track of the amount of games I lost after denying a third in TvZ. I mean, we all know that that means that the game is over and terran wins, right? wrong. You can get ling-all in'd or worse yet, your opponent surrounds your army, kills it and double expands while you turtle at home or what about a lurker/ling all-in that strikes right after your army just killed the third. You have a single bunker, some marines and nothing else. I could go on and on, lots of ways that you can still lose a "won" game. Even in the games above, in the second game, I cleaned 3 bases worth of drones. Maybe I didn't kill a hatchery but surely, that must mean I was ahead yet I still lost. Stuff happens and games are won and lost just as easily. Don't take it to heart, just try harder next time and remember to have fun!

Man I wish I had your mindset, enjoy your journey on the ladder!

I actually don't ladder anymore. I used to do ICCup but I haven't in a long time and I don't play much ladder on rm either. Most of my fun comes from playing the same players for years because as mentioned, I know their tendencies and in turn, I have learned to adjust to try and abuse it. Likewise, they also know mine and can abuse as well.
As for the mindset, I've lost so many games at this point that having another 0-20 lose streak isn't as bothersome as it once was lol. Once you accept that you're a noob at BW and can only improve slowly overtime with some breaks in between, you'll find it does wonders. My advice for you is to try and find someone who's willing to play a matchup you enjoy and just play as much as possible on different maps. NEC, HBR, FS, CB, Neo Medusa etc... all maps that I've played a ton of games on and have won and lost in good and bad games

In fact, from all available RTS games out there, few even come close. StarCraft II is probably the only game that might just slightly touch BW's mechanical difficulty.
Try the Wargame or CoH series and tell this again. Even more-less accurate calculations of the efective ranges are hard to learn in the Wargame, and I never learned the all small-things in CoH to even win with the noobs.

Those games are boring to me, not really planning to try them out as a result. BW is the only game that I still love and cherish to this day.
