Starcraft is like Kung Fu. When I approach Starcraft I bring the same argument to the table that I used when I was a Black Belt sparring in Tae'kwon'do. You are the best player of all time.

I charged a pretty substantial fee for lessons when I was a Starcraft: Brood War coach. It was reasonable since my only students were close friends.

I had some spare time today and was feeling upbeat. Now that my carpal tunnel has improved, I thought I would show a godlike return to form and try to promote myself to sensei in the eyes of my students.

The result was this replay, which I've recorded quickly so that everyone can watch and understand my mentality. My students seem to enjoy the replay and so I thought I would share it here as well to explain what I've learned from Starcraft II and Supreme Commander 1 & 2.

Personally I am very happy with the results of my learning from these games, and it continues to cement in my mind the fact that I am the best player of all time. I will never see myself as anything other than the best player of all time and I encourage you to do the same. Feel free to share your thoughts on the SC:BW VOD. They are appreciated.

I hope to continue to progress in the world of Starcraft by returning to aerobic, anaerobic, and calisthenic training. As well as integrating Yoga and hopefully karate in the near future. It is easy to feel optimistic that Starcraft will continue to improve along with my life.

At least watch the VOD, guys.

If you are really worried about the way I've represented myself you should look at LiquidPoker. This is the smart way to represent yourself, and it's true.

look, to be reasonable? You'd have to beat me first to be best player of all time. because i once did beat fischei, who once beat Vanatir, who once beat Scan, who once beat Zero, who once beat Flash. By that definition, i am the epitome of SC:BW.

So, grudgematch on ICCUp and i'll give you your title gladly. Deal?

watched portions of the vod, your mic is super low, i can barely hear you.

In terms of the best way to represent yourself, that may or may not be true, but it just all sounds really weird and conceited.

I don't understand a few things:

1. Why would you charge a substantial fee, but only to your friends? It would seem like you'd want it to be the other way around...

2. I understand that general fitness is good, but don't get why you call out these specific types when saying that you want to get better at starcraft:

Can't hear you over the game sound.

I'm suspicious thinking you're the best / over-confidence is a folly. In motivation studies, we know that people who visualise success, ie getting an A on a test, actually perform worse. It's people who visualise doing the work of studying for the test, who are then more likely to actually study, that improve their performance and motivation.

I remember back in the day there were always these strange interviews with Idra who thought it was the most important thing that you always think you're going to win hard. Idra was a fantastic player, but that personality was actually a minority. Most players were pretty humble, and even though all top players must have had high confidence in their abilities, arrogance isn't what made Idra good at SC. Playing hours every day is what made him good lol. More than anything, letting your ego rest on your ability to succeed in the game can motivate you to practice and work really hard to be good. But just saying I'm the best or whatever... I gotta say that probably belongs more strongly to the category of player who is happy enough to think if they only practiced more, they would crush everyone, but doesn't ever want to risk finding out. Because once you lose, you need excuses to be able to still think you're the best, right?

yeah, you should watch stuff. it's important if you have a good look at the game because of carpal tunnel. we can only prepare a new build every month or so and we may not be able to play a good game more than once a year.

i probably wont' do that unless you're actually serious. it takes several games to theorycraft and build these build orders. it's very hard to build these builds and the chance of recording them is 0.09561792499 or less.

i never play more than 10 games at a time and and successful recording per game is 1/100.

since this game was recorded on game 1 the chance of it happening again is incalculable. probabilities don't go up because they happen on demand or on the first try. they're the same, so this is a very rare and important replay because it was successful after 1 run.

What? Why would you record a video if you have another video playing in the background? That pretty much completely defeats any purpose, and only serves to distract any potential viewer(s).

Again - what? This is a replay - it's not like you recorded it live. You could easily re-record the stuff without all of the random distractions in the background. If you want it to be used as a teaching tool, then why wouldn't you explain what's going on, and what decisions you're making?

It just seems like you wanted to trick us all into watching a video where we see reavers slowly creep out and shoot about a thousand scarabs and then (i assume you're the protoss, since you make no indication of what race you play, but the protoss player wins) you sit around and BM your opponent.

Really classy man.

this game is very useful it shows what SC:BW looks like in my head. obviously we are playing against players and are not in a wormhole where the opponent is actually expressed by an infinite improbability overmind.

players should not be expected to perfectly counter ideas theyve never seen before. you cant perfectly counter an idea youve never seen because you need to process yourself,

if players started to perfectly counter theorycrafting as the default outcome it would lead us to unpleasant places. we do not want our thoughts to be like a tetris board.

should the opponent be able to counter the reavers? i don't know / don't think so. if gamesense's argument was just that "i should be able to counter the reavers" there might be people who disagree with his mindset.

What? Why would you record a video if you have another video playing in the background? That pretty much completely defeats any purpose, and only serves to distract any potential viewer(s).

look, to be reasonable? You'd have to beat me first to be best player of all time. because i once did beat fischei, who once beat Vanatir, who once beat Scan, who once beat Zero, who once beat Flash. By that definition, i am the epitome of SC:BW.

So, grudgematch on ICCUp and i'll give you your title gladly. Deal?

have you installed 1.18? fish is available on 1.18 whitewall.

i probably wont' do that unless you're actually serious. it takes several games to theorycraft and build these build orders. it's very hard to build these builds and the chance of recording them is 0.09561792499 or less.

i never play more than 10 games at a time and and successful recording per game is 1/100.

since this game was recorded on game 1 the chance of it happening again is incalculable. probabilities don't go up because they happen on demand or on the first try. they're the same, so this is a very rare and important replay because it was successful after 1 run.

I'm not saying anything about the build at all, I'm criticizing the video. You just watch the reavers slowly crawl across the map, no looking at what else is going on, not giving any commentary. You could learn as much loading up a game vs an ai building reavers, then move commanding them across the map.

In terms of the best way to represent yourself, that may or may not be true, but it just all sounds really weird and conceited.

I don't understand a few things:

1. Why would you charge a substantial fee, but only to your friends? It would seem like you'd want it to be the other way around...

2. I understand that general fitness is good, but don't get why you call out these specific types when saying that you want to get better at starcraft:

i don't want to reveal the extent of my strategies, obviously. therefore there is a dark archon on the game to symbolize as a placeholder. but look how helpful it turned out to be. you are not watching the game carefuloy. if the terran had used a dropship to assassinate the stolen scv building cc @ 1:30 location it woud have been intercepted by cannons & reaver at 3..

edit: i had some time today to rewatch the VOD, and my personal realization of this game is: we cannot always have bottlenecks in our life theory. they will exist but we cannot always depend on bottlenecks. if i am always living my life to defeat one bottleneck with other bottlenecks i may be disappointed. there is surely another way to defeat bottlenecks that will prevail to me.

i continue to believe Zyneck is the best player of all time.

And I continue to believe that any C- player on ICCUP will beat you easily, Mr. best player of all time. But I must applaud you for being able to permanently live in a dream world.

Aside from your conceited blog and posts, this is just a terrible video which shows nothing besides a noob beating an even bigger noob while watching ninazergs stream in the background. Probably no coincidence that you didn't show the replay with the apm timer, because it would have probably shown an apm barely above 100 to identify the level of play easier.

i'm sure my APM was at least 150 in this game. if i knew how to bwchart 1.18 replays i would prove this to you immediately, unless of course i was wrong. then my confidence would get an even bigger boost because: testie vs midas.
