I am looking for something similar to the Hearts of Iron series. I am waiting for HOI 4, but I need something to fill in the void in the meantime. If anyone has any good recommendations, I would love to know. If you liked HOI3, try out paradox other series . I personally like Europa Universalis 4 a lot, although the warfare is more about outmaneuvering and knowing when and where to fight and very rudimentary in terms of battlefield planning. From what I can tell from the differences between CK2 and EU4, all grand strategy games from Paradox use a very similar basic system and mainly have a different focus in their system. In CK it's their focus on the dynasties f.e. Strictly speaking eu isnt turn based though, despite playing a lot like f.e. total war. The total war series is another no-brainer, so is the civ series.

Now, while I wasn't a fan of Civilization: Beyond Earth taking the series of-world, one thing that I did like was their influence system. When you completed a task for a civilization not only did you gain some rep with them, but also influence points that you could use for special actions, like forcing a civilization to declare war on someone else, or end a war etc. It was something that I felt diplomacy lacked till then and it meant that you could finally just focus on your own economy and fight a war by proxy if you so chose. I think you can probably do mobile warfare in both the games I described but you could also try a Total War game. While the best results often come from you fighting directly, if you grow your empire large enough you can just focus on army movements and empire management, while also diving in for the occasional grand slam. In particular if you pick one of the cavalry based civilizations like Parthrians in Rome 2, then you could have tons of fun harassing your enemies to death with cav archers before breaking their line with heavy cataphracts.
