first blog here, lurked for so long in the subforums, i'm going to try to be as clear as possible and explain my long life of esport enthusiast !
first of all, my name is michael and i'm living in the south of france. Be french in esport seems to be a tricky bitchy thing, cause everyone hates us, cause we can't speak french convenably.
French guys are lazy, prefering partying everyday than learn somethings interesting as english or maths. Sorry for the baguette thing happening in all your LOL solo/duoQ/whatever. I feel terrible for you in your sc2 session being raped by a french who can't speak better english as a 6 years old from sweden.
To begin with, i was an avid console gamer in my prime, switching side to side RPG games, Plateformer and action games. My first console ever was the master system from SEGA, packaged with shinobi, sonic 2 and later Wimbledon and colums. Oh god, i enjoyed this moment, that was feeling so good in my mind, but those days are gone. The simple mind reminder is that everything was so big at those days, every sonic was a pure genious invention and we wouldn't need to be connected on the interweb for playing such game. No hacking, only tricks and little cheat code allows us to fully enjoy the games.
After my master system years, i got a Gameboy Color, with tetris and kirby's dreamland.Kirby dreamland was fucking awesome, all of it was pure godness, the music, and the concept are really mindblowing.
I going to pass my playstation day, not because they were bad, but because of the esport part coming right now. Just by thoses days i was a pure JRPG fan, playing game such as Final fantasy or breath of fire or sudoken.
So come the day who changed my life, my first personnal computer. I remember its cararistics like it was a year ago. Specs was : 400 mhz pentium 2, ATI RAGE 2, 256 Mo ram and 80 hdd space. That was so epic, no need to query my older brother to let me play at duke nukem on the family PC, no need too to ask my parents if i can play cause the PC is just in a small room on the top of the house. So come my strategy turn. I was living for strategy, searching the perfect build order, breathing to gain victory in this amazing game which was Starcraft : Brood War.
When i just came to battle.net, it was scary, all the people were so good, i just get raped every fucking time, but in the meanwhile i was getting experience to overcome this.
As i was pure newbie, i join the US West server instead of europe, cause i was gaming at hours that no one on EU did. Playing at 6 AM request a good mindset. By finishing the night time, you need to be fresh in your strategy feeling, the micro comes harder, the macro is expected to be less optimus. Getting my first 10 stars, YUY, i could get experienced in ladder game, yeah the scariest thing ever, having a ELO was terrifying and by this time the win hack haven't get out yet.
So i tried, i lost. I tried again, i lost again.
The feeling of deception was coming in me, and then i was wondering how to improve to get best win/loose ratio. I was by this time approximativly at 960 ELO with stats such as 8 wins / 15 losts. Was playing Terran too. So i search on the interwebs to get advices and tech supports, i wasn't able to wall properly at those days, and my build older was fucking so bad. So i search, and what a fucking epic moment i got to teamliquid forums.
Everything was so clear, just follow the strategy guides and i would improve so damn quickly.
Then i discover the evil part of sc2 : the scene was damn controlled by south korea nation. Thoses koreans were so good, doing 400 apm peaks so easily, with damn evil tricks such as marine + science vessel to kills lurker. I was fucking amazed my the power of gamer like TheMarine, or Yellow. Back in these days i was supporting TheMarine Or [NC]...Leader for intimate people. He gots one of the best TvT ever, doing a well mixxed Tank+Marines+BCs which was a fucking combo to victory. Oh i forgot, i switched to europe approximatly 1 months after beginning multiplayer games. Playing at normal hours give me more peacefull moments , enjoying playing with french speaking guys was great. So i made my way to be part of the Batto) Clan, doing the div 3 wgbtfr tour. I was improving quickly and during my freshman year in highschool i come to be one.
