Hi there,
I stopped smoking about a week ago and its freakin easy. I dont understand why peeps having problems with that. I am 35 years old, i smoked 40 grams of shag each day since i was 16 years old and i stopped last week (40 grams of shag is approx 40 sigarettes a day). Its easy, dunno why but it is. Well, ofcourse im hyped about everything right now and yes, i feel that im missing something but its doable I dont need gums, pills or books or courses to stop. Just say u had enough and quit. EZPZ.
Best time to quit is when ur going through a awefull period. Yes a awefull period you read correctly, because u wont focus on the sigarets in this period as much becuz u dont think its that important. It will be easier, then when ur life is fine and dandy and all your negativitity is focussed on quitting smoking. In this way its more natural way of quitting the filthy habit, until now it has worked for me. SO, u want to quit smoking, quit during an awefull period in your life. U will see, u will make it and its ezpz!
Is the hardest part still to come or am I just such a beast?!

lol best of luck, none of my friends have tried to quit yet so I dunno if it gets harder.

I never tried to stop smoking so far, but I think you're "such a beast" . There isn't only a psychological addiction, but also a physical addiction... Did you not have some problems to sleep or something ? You have an impressive motivation but also an impressive organism, I couldn't stop like that without any subtitute (not necessarily patch or pills).
Good luck for the 2nd week!

I would be interested to know if you continue to succeed, you will update for us?

You're only a week in, you haven't quit shit yet.
That said, good going, keep it up. Hopefully, you've quit early enough that you don't end up with lung and brain cancer in about ten to thirty years, which will be a massive strain on everyone around you untill the day you die. It'll be slow and painful, and every day you'll be close to paralysed, having no energy to do anything due to reduced lung capacity. Walking up one level of stairs? Forget it. Walking to the shop five minutes away? Nope.
So yea. Keep it up.
Edit: This is based on personal experiences with lung cancer in the family, by the way. I'm not just giving you shit to make you feel bad.

stopping to smoke is easy, i have done it 10 times!

I had 2 friends trying to stop a couple years ago, roughly at the same time.
Around the 3/4th weeks, both turned crazy batshit mad to everyone around them because they were going through that w/e angry phases. One of them eventually got back to smocking because it was too hard on him to be angry all the time. The other one went through okish, she did force herself to think and do things not to think about it. Was really not easy during that time though, she was getting somehow isolated by the end because everyone was a dick according to her. But she came through.
The guy has heavily reduced his smoking habit, still a smoker, still willing to stop but I think he's afraid right now to go through that period again.
So, keep it up, you're at the beginning, hard times are coming by, brace yourself with a rock solid program to always have something to do and think about. Even if you were to fail, trying is already a great step ahead. Good luck.

when the first week is easy for you, chances are, it will always remain easy.
i know there's some people like you, who just really find it easy. i'm extremely jealous, cause for me it's much more difficult

Congrats. My dad stopped smoking cold turkey and didn't seem to have any problems either. Some people are just like that.

Gj. I'm also proud to have quit two years ago. My parents are both smokers though, I already hate the day when I will have to see them paying for it.

Some people can just stop cold turkey with little issue, while others can't. Nicotine in particular does a physical aspect to it so be prepared for that, though again some people can soldier through it more easily that others. GL.

Easy, i wont say its easy after onyl 7 days but if i could use a metafore it would be "diet coke".
We all hate diet coke... its filthy... if u drink 1 sip of normal coca/pepsi and 1 sip diet pepsi/coca directly after... ur gonna barf... thats because ur missing something in that coke. Same with quiting smoking, but all day and every day.. 24/7 u notice "the diet". Do u want to drink diet coke the rest of ur life? think not and thats why its pretty hard for most peeps
My guess is that aslong u got something else to worry about which u rate higher/bigger then quitting smokes, stopping with smoking will be ezpz... because u dont notice the "diet in the coke" or just dont care bout the diet becuz u got bigger fish to fry.. until problems are solved ofcourse and your negativity can focus on the nicotine, but then u atleast got through the 1st part of quitting

I'm glad it's easy for you. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine was legitimately convinced he was stopping. For real this time. It last 30 minutes, not even kidding. He had one cigarette left and said this is the last one... the very last one. 30 minutes later he was in his car, going to grab another pack.
Couple of days later, he stopped smoking for a day because he felt his heart doing something crazy... Smoked again the next day.

Good luck bro , 1 week done, 2 weeks more I expect :D.

Might help if he decides not to spend any more money on smokes. It's probably slightly easier to get rid of the habit of buying cigs rather than the habit of smoking them. He'll basically have to ask others for smokes.
