[Sunburn Blog] Arms? Need help
Ok so here I am being totally normal and NOT having the skin peeling off my arms. Last weekend (like, 9 days ago or whatever) I went for a hike and got sunburned. Now, I didn't get sunburned on my face or anything cause I'm not dumb, I put sunscreen on my face, I also put sunscreen on my legs and neck and stuff cause I'm pretty smart about that. However, in a colossal feat of what I can only assume to be idiocy, I somehow forgot to put sunscreen on my arms. So, well, I got sunburned fairly badly on my arms.
If you've ever been sunburned, you know this sucks-- but barring a marginally higher chance of skin cancer, an individual sunburn typically doesn't have long-lasting effectives. I figured "oh ok maybe i'll get some peeling from this sunburn" which happens with really bad sunburns, right? But a week goes by and my arm skin seems pretty okay. Then, like a day ago, the skin starts peeling off me like a babe's dress on prom night. Check it:

So I was wondering what to do. I've read some websites and typically this happens on like the same day you get sunburned, and you should basically just leave it alone and drink water, but it's kinda bothering me. Any advice? Would putting lotion on it or moisturizer or something be a good idea? It also looks pretty bad ;_;
PS sorry for no music I've been having some issues with the plugins in the new version of Firefox. Next time, eh?

Eh, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just drink a good amount of water and apply some lotion or moisturizer periodically; the extra moisture will make the dried-out skin flakes stand out less. Alternatively, you can gently exfoliate the dead skin off in the shower or something. Don't do it all at once, though; do it in stages, over the course of a few days.

I always like to peel it off and see how large I can get the strips of skin to be.

That's like the opposite of what I want to do ;_; I'd like to keep as much of my skin attached to my body as possible

The skin will regrow, no worries dude, the peeling is not that bad and you should not really worry about it. No point in stressing bro, just follow what aeres/archas said and you will be fine

This, and those pics man....I don't mean to sound totally rude (only partially), that's some weak ass burn you got there to be worried about it.

Yeah that's very minor and normal. If it's painful use aloe, but otherwise not much you can do until it's done.

Thats nothing bro. even with sunscreen i peel worse than that. just remove the dead skin

LOL I was expecting some horror skin peeling when I clicked on the spoiler. Seriously I don't know what you're asking, you are making this out so much bigger than it really is. Like other posters said, aloe vera is the best for soothing sunburn (I was burnt on legs so bad I couldn't walk for a couple of days after, now THAT was peeling skin), but you're already peeling so if you must do anything, then moisturiser will hide some of the flaking skin.

I went to the beach last weekend so I'm suffering the same exact problem. Best of luck to you with the peeling.

I was expecting a really nasty bloody burn and all I got was some peeling skin... is it weird that I'm disappointed?
Also... what KawaiiRice said. I once burned the bottoms of both my feet badly by stepping on coals that had just been removed from a fire pit, was miserable until aloe vera cured me in like 48 hours

Peel it. Keep it in a box. Plan the death of Austin Powers.

I had the exact same experience. My arms were burnt pretty bad but nothing happened for a couple of days. Then suddenly the peeling started. Maybe the arms are less sensitive or don't regen that fast, I don't know.

lol dude thats nothing. one time I was able to peel the skin off of my ENTIRE RIGHT ARM. like, as one huge piece, not a little bit over a long period of time. my entire arm all at once.
Just wait it out or slap some aloe vera on that motherfucker.

Peeling your skin off a sunburn is one of life's secret joys. Treasure it, and stop worrying about it. You're not weird for liking it.
