Don't worry too much it's a standard of improvement. For example, you have overcome obstacles that allowed you to be promoted from diamond to masters. Now you must overcome the new obstacles that await in masters league. Not any drastic problems, just means you need to more carefully evaluate your games and determined what these new obstacles are, and then develop a plan to overcome each one at a time! Happly laddering. GLHF!

Hey, I have had similar or even worse experiences. Take a break, really! Last time I was the verge of masters was the end of season 3, i was climbing in my diamond division and was playing only masters. Then I finally got #1, and decided to play customs (was few days before end of the season, figured would look nice to be #1 at the end of the season). Anyway I accidently played a quick match, lost to a proxy, went on tilt, and lost like 40 games with maybe 5 wins here and there.. ended up like top 50 lol instead of top 8 or #2 if i just let it go..
Anyway its a mix of things. #1 you are playing better players, theres no way around that if your mmr climbs. This is good, as you might lose a bit, but also improve.. #2 you are probably also tilting a bit right now and playing like crap. Dont do what I did, take a few days off, play customs? when your mind is clear go back to ladder, if you feel like ur playing fine, even if you are losing, your mmr will adjust and ull be back to 50% or so soon. + you are improving. If you know you are playing way sub par don't spam ladder, especially if points worry you.

If it is of any consolation alot of ppl have bad winratio in the beginning of the ladder. I see progamers all the time with more losses than wins
It'll even out later in the season. I remember at the start of season 4 i got really frustrated because i had 7-10 or something then i realized SjoW (and many many others) had even worse stats

Season resets always bring a shitstorm to my W/L ratio too man.. hang in there

Either because I play poorly or I get cheesed
No, no, no. If you lose to cheese, you did play poorly. "Cheese" is the easiest thing in the game to hold off, and if you haven't figured out how, then you deserve to lose.
Also, did you expect it to get easier in a higher league?

Read up on how each of your (I'm assuming you're \\\ PROTOSS ///) matchups has evolved. Get VODS, get REPLAYS, get BLUE POSTERS OF AWESOMENESS, and try your best to understand how the pros handle / get manhandled by the various crap that has been bringing you down.
Since advice / help me threads are usually clogged with crap, try searching the post history of BLUE POSTERS such as CecilSunkure and friends. I often find individual posts on certain topics to be even more helpful than well-written guides.
Play your games in batches, and avoid tilting at all costs. Playing when mad does nothing for you; watch someone else play.

When I lose a lot of games in a row, I take a break from ladder for a day or two and play against some friends and practice partners. It's pretty fun, and it's a good way to get rid of tilt. It's still early in the season, so if I were you I'd take a little time off the ladder and play some games where you don't get cheesed to feel a bit better.

you're 50% win ratio you're exactly where you should be ( in theory)
none the less I know your feeling I was smashing master leaguers a week ago and then one day I just hit inconsistency, ended the season as rank 25 diamond. a week ago I was sure I was on route to promotion.
I guess that's what separates pro gamers and better gamers from casuals though, aside from superior play it'd be consistency

21/52 = ~40. He's at a 40% win ratio, which over the course of many games (in this case 52) indicates a slump. This is why I'd recommend he take a break from the ladder.

shit sorry didn't do the maths, looked pleasingly correct at a glance my bad.

I've always found my winrate at the start of ladder seasons takes a nosedive, then bounces back. I seem to lose to a lot of random bullshit - maybe people are trying to rush out wins. In any case, once I get more used to it, I start winning at a more normal rate.
Take a break, play some customs, watch your loss replays, and get back into it.

Yeah ZeromuS you gotta step back from the ladder and play customs for a bit. Play squadron TD, then play some custom Shakuras, etc.
I do it that way when I lose because I am really stressed out about winning and moving up in rank, and losing on the ladder stresses me out because I want to be better than I am. I've often returned to the ladder either later in my gaming session or the next day with a clean slate (flush those losses from your mind because they make you go into the next game being paranoid about having it happen again and that keeps you from concentrating on playing a good game) and gave a much better showing.
Also, I am playing CGs (custom games but still 1v1 melee) more than laddering and the stress is gone. I get apm practice, I can play with clear head, and I save some bonus pool. I used to mass ladder but have found I enjoy this approach much more.
I was mid masters since release (around that level when masters wasn't available), and never practiced with anyone else or was ever coached. Now I am looking into practicing with a few people that are better than me because my previous approach hasn't been working. I suggest finding a few practice partners; a lot of people prefer to practice over laddering because in practice you can hammer out 6 games vs same race on same map in a short period of time and get really good at it.

Hey guys I started playing people who are better but now I'm losing more often than I did before, I don't understand!

MMR doesn't mean skill. Sometimes you'll randomly play against people who are better than you. Losing streaks happen. Sometimes you go on tilt, sleep it off.

if he's losing to them they're better

During the beginning of the season people tend to cheese alot so you're bound to lose a couple games because of that, as you said you have.

I took a short break at the end of S 4, and I finished high in my division. I started playing team games off-race for fun. Now that I'm back, its like I forgot how to play the game. I don't think I've won yet this season. I was definitely close to being promoted at the end of S 4 (always playing favored players).
Now I am terrible! Oh well. Just have to keep at it and remember that a couple of days of is good, but more than 5 or so days and it starts to mess with your mechanics.
