The Blog is really awesome Bumblebee. It explains the basics around the Map itself perfectly. But really outstanding are the pulling movies. I think it really helps some newcomers in the DotA scene when they see those pulls, to do them aswell. But i think you can put the secret shop in the jungle aswell, for the bigger.. and better items.
And damn, i hope i got the lucky draw on one of the key's.

Great guide. Really nice for people who are just getting into it. Hopefully you are able to write a really indepth guide on laning, as atleast for me, it is the most interesting and one of the most interesting phases of the game. Keep it up :D
Hopefully I get lucky and get a key ;p

Awesome, thanks for the post!

I'm looking forward to the laning post. I should be able to get a basic enough idea of heroes by playing bot games, but you can't really just play bot games and learn the current laning strategies. I'd like to have some idea of what they are and when they are useful (like trilaning) before I put myself against other people. I'd rather not drag my team down too much!

Will be keeping an eye on this blog.

Very nice guide.

In HoN people often block the creep pull by putting the ward in the forest next to the creep camp such that it is blocked and the ward cannot be counter warded, does this work/ is this done in DotA as well?

It's kind of a pub thing to do because you can easily counter it. Take your courier and use it for vision between the trees. Also the vision that those wards provide are great - you gain a lot of intel from them in the laning phase.

Nice Post, I like it, but this "I have never seen a team comeback if they're up against megacreeps." is wrong, I lost a SIG when my Team has achieved mega creeps -_-
Its kinda fun playing vs Pl, Troll and TB in Lategame with Troll Ultimate

hmm I would have expected some guide about wards too but this seems cool for basics, also you didn't cover the ancients(but that doesn't matter that much). good guide for newbies.

When you mention pulling creeps to deny them/help jungle what do you mean by stacking the camps first?

It's explained in the blog tho. But stacking means you pull the creeps out of the camp at a specific time, so the creeps will be away from the spawn at the time news will respawn and that way you end up having 2 creepcamps in 1 camp.

Well..shameless response for a betakey ^^"

I couldn't read the entire thing because I already play a lot of Dota/Hon, but what I read seemed fairly spot on.

I played until level 30 + a bit in LoL and it was a really really dry and boring game at that point even playing with a bunch of different champions. I watched some "professional" LoL and the "pros" honestly seem just as skilled as regular DotA players. I'm not saying they're bad, but I think DotA 2 would probably be much better for them to play.

With that said I'm really looking forward to DotA 2.

Nice guide! I can't wait for this game!

AHhhhhhhh when DotA 2 comes out it will be a very difficult decision. Keep playing HoN which Ive already dumped money into and all my friends play? Or play DotA 2 cause it will be the better game?

Choices....T.T

Either way thanks for doing all this for us keyless scrubs xD

I've seen guys rosh at level one a few times. What kinda of hero lineup do you have to have to be able to do this? It seems rather hectic. Also what's the point of stacking, is it only if you can't kill the creeps off so you stack then kill when you are able to?

EDIT: I see it's in the pulling step. Interesting never knew that.

Nice little guide. I like that it's not too extensive, just the most important basics. What I would actually be interested in reading is some kind of DotA1 to DotA2 guide that explains all the differences. Even if DotA2 is supposed to be an exact copy of DotA1, there will most likely be some subtle differences. Might be a little bit too early for something like that though, since it's still beta and stuff changes rapidly.

Cool guide Bumblebee! I've never played any Dota games, but this blog (and the previous ones about dota) gives a pretty good idea about what it's all about :-)

Nice posts as always. I'm most interested in hearing about tri-laning since I stopped following DotA before that became popular. If you come out with a couple laning "sub" articles about the different lane setups you mentioned ( 2-1-2,1-1-2,1-1-3) that would be cool. There is a lot of both basic and advanced information about laning that would be incredibly useful to have laid out in guides like this.

Great guide. Useful for anyone looking to get into DotA. I'm glad people take the time to post these things, they definitely add positive interaction within the community and help to build it.

Also, today is my birthday (no joke. November 5th. :3) A beta key would be the best gift ever.

Obviously DOTA2 is the right choice!

Feels like HoN is going to die anyways when DOTA2 is released.
