Introduction

My blog shall be following my progress from the gold league up until I hit the goal of Masters League. Now before anyone gets the idea that I'm looking to complete it in like 2 weeks, well your wrong.. I'm not looking for a get fast league up build that works enough to get up there, im looking to slowly improve and get my play up to a master level. Hopefully you'll enjoy seeing my posts on a somewhat weekly bases!

Inital play evaluation

Ok, so after evaluating my play I noticed there was a lot of mistakes, first and fore most supply capping during the start of the game is purely diabolical, as a zerg player you should be looking to never be supply capped. In fact that pretty much goes for all races.. Ok here's my list of things to practice and work on,

+ Show Spoiler +
- Overlord Supply
- Scouting with overlords at correct time
- Learning my opp's builds, (may be an idea to play as other races or watch more streams of different races to understand there timing attacks and what not.)
-Find a practice partner of diamond standard to practice with ( ZvZ as it's my weakest matchup)
-Player more games to rank my mmr up higher so i get placed in Plat next season.

reflection is a beautiful thing, Im also going to be studying my replays to help understand mine and my own opponents weak points to help me understand where I could of improved.

Also I learnt a couple of "Cute" builds that I may use, because hey even cheese is considered effective in some ways.

I may also add some extra blog entry based around my thoughts on how I practice and what i look to get out of games. This and maybe also some stuff about my previous gaming exp.

Enjoy.

Beging as we wish to end.

Don't forget positioning overlords. For example verse Terran you must send your 3rd and 4th overlords towards drop ship paths so they can get their in time.

Also, always helpful verse T/P, if you're planning on early roach aggression- send that first or 2nd overlord to their ramp while your making your roaches. That way you can snipe the cyber core/some depots for free while getting a damn good scout instead of walking up the ramp and getting shot at.

Brilliant advice, That reminds me that my overlord spread at the later points of the game is lacking, while I could also be useing them to spread creep better. Also going to try makeing overlord "boxes" as my friend showed me ( which is bascially putting them in squares around your base while dorpping creep + vision to help exspand around the map faster.

Primary focus needs to be on never missing an inject and map, opponent strategy at all times. Having extra larvae is key to stopping any time attack. If you feel unsafe, whether it be against a 1 base toss or terran, stacking larvae is a prime for stopping all ins.

In addition to that you need to have map presence. Even if it is a few zerglings at the tower and typically 1 near their front door so you can spend that stacked larvae to stone wall them all in.

If your intention it to legitimize your play in the long run you need to play macro games. All in wins on ladder are nice for points but a strong foundation for any race is based on the ability to play macro games and hold off all ins//cheese.

Burrowing individual zergling's around the map is a great way for mid and late game vision that is cost efficient with the capability of unveiling positioning, unit comp, and strategy.

There are 5 gallon jugs full of tricks for every race but zerg has the capability to be quick, crafty, and deadly in more ways then most.

I love blogs already, more amazing feedback to make me an insomniac by the time I finally stop wondering about how to improve my play ^^. It's funny you mention burrow as its something I have been tinkering with a little bit and it seems very effective vs terran by burrowing 2-3 banelings near the front of there base to either force scan or to kill a large amount of marines.

This and also looking at when to build overlords, some like to make do it based on hatches and when your larvae spawns Im just looking for the best method and Im going to give them all a try on a build order test map tomorrow.

Thanks for your input!

The point of burrowing 10 zerglings across the map is just for pure map vision.

Sure burrowed banelings are amazing for damaging a Terran army, but burrowing individual zerglings around the map is just for recon. You have complete awareness of the map. You can even bury them at expansions to deny until they get obs to remove them.

You can burrow banelings in the mineral lines of your opponents expansions before he builds them and when he transfers the works is free kills.
