Unless you're a superstar in all areas of your application (including multiple publications), chances are pretty slim. There's nothing wrong with being out of school, as long as you've been applying yourself/pursuing healthcare opportunities/not being a lazy bum you should be fine. If anything you have an advantage if you've worked a year or two in healthcare than someone out of college (assuming identical stats of course). DO is a good alternative too. Don't believe the stigma, there is only one difference between DOs and MDs once you graduate: one has an M and the other has an O. Once you're in the workforce no one gives a shit what letters are after your name. There's only one DO school that has a sketchy reputation, and it's in CO. Don't go Caribbean, ever. Edit: Lol, just read your name. Don't tell me you're whiteshadow from SDN? LOL...i knew ur name was too familiar.... i actually have a couple pubs, some awards for research, and some other stuff. i'm competitive everywhere on my app except MCAT...retarded, i don't mind retaking, but i'm gonna hit the submit button in a few hours. might as well give it a shot.

Good luck with your app. It's already late in the season though. If you don't get in, retake your mcats or go for DO like the above poster said. I'm currently a MS4 (MD candidate) applying for residencies in a fairly noncompetitive field and my experience is that unless you are gunning for an ultra competitive residency, there's absolutely no difference between MD and DO on the interview trail and beyond.
