Update: Race switched to T
Hey guys!
As a guy who just started playing BW competitively on iccup (still haven't really played any games yet) I was wondering what the first steps are on becoming at least good.
Here's my iCCup profile, as you can see I have 1000 points, D, and haven't played any games yet.
So where do I start?
I don't really understand the game at all, and don't have any build orders or anything, though I tried looking some up but didn't really get any good standard ones. I play Z (UPDATE, NOW T), btw.

You could start practicing build orders from liquipedia or the bw strategy forums against computers until you have it down.
Find/practice with practice partners/friends around your level or a bit better.
Also watching some VODs of progamers wouldnt hurt.

You've played competitively before. I've maybe played 100 games casually (when I was switching between WC3 and BW) and 20 with the AI learning one build~

1. Unit counters (play a couple games and try out different units)
and
2. Macro hard (build lots of scvs, expand, make tons of units, send your units to a fight, and try to get back to your base as quickly as possible, even missing the battle, to build more units)
You'll want to make games titled something like (D-/E Python) (or any other 3+ player map to reduce the chance of rushes). If you join games that say "D/D-/D+" you'll get trounced, but if you make them, you can boot anyone with a high ranking.
I find that most players don't rush though, I tend to be the rusher.

uuh, I'd say pretty intermediate. I'm bronze/silver in SC2 (keep bouncing between the two), and yeah, I use hotkeys. I know bronze/silver seems like noob, but I honestly think I'm better than that and if I put in the time I could be gold or so.

Try not to think about stuff in terms of counters, just what units you want to destroy your opponent with . It's a dangerous mentality to think "oh he has made X, so I need to get Y".
Fighting spirit is MOTW right now, so you should probably play that. I'm sGs.Nazza on Iccup.
