My sexy grill :D
btw remind me i need to sweep the deck
so as you've probably noticed, its summer! which is the perfect time to start grilling shit.
Now, I'll admit that I'm a complete scrub at grilling. I just started grilling this summer, but I've already figured out how to make some pretty mean hamburgers (the real shit) and a baller steak too.
If you've never had worcestershire sauce on a hamburger you're missing out. Best idea i've ever had.
So what about you TL? What kind of things do you like to grill?

Nothing beats a good steak. But im partial to shish kabob too. Marinate the steak cut up some pepers and onions. Throw it all on a staff of meat manlyness. toss a bunch of those babies right on the grill. mmmmm. Then you can throw it all in a flat bread with some sauce and cheese and its just lovely. + Show Spoiler +i also like to grill girl blogs

First i just wanted to write one word, but then i started to think.
Meat, of course Mushroomheads filled with herb butter ... so delicious. And last but not least Feta wrapped in tin foil with some nice herbs and tomatoes.
|
rofl! I see what you did there!
|
Ya gotta chop up some mushrooms, put a few spices (ill update this afternoon when i get home and my wife is up. shes the one who seasons the mushrooms) then get a skilllet and put it on the grill and when its hot enough grill up them mushrooms. so damn good.
|
Almost. XD
Btw, T-Bone steak is the best thing to grill.
|
If you've never had Lick's hamburgers come to Canada, go to the restaurant or buy them at the grocery store, and fire those babies up. They're thick, juicy, and have this ingrained spice that makes them amazing.
Had one last night. DELICIOUS+ Show Spoiler [See?] +I even have advice for gril blogs!

Grilled tofu and vegetables is delicious. When cooking with tofu, you have to be careful though because it's really easy to make something disgusting if you don't know what you're doing.
You don't have to be a vegetarian or a fruitcake to eat tofu. Tofu absorbs other flavors well *cough* bacon.

I actually almost never grill steak. Chicken breast, hamburgers and lately pork tenderloin and loin roasts have been on my BBQ.
|
I whole-heartedly support the use of Worcesteshire sauce on the grill. If you haven't tried it you are truly missing out.
Also, I was not disappointed when I saw the title of this thread and clicked

gril blogs are the best blogs <3

Potatoes, onions and garlic wrapped up in foil and put on the grill are fantastic. Flank steak marinated in Mr. Yoshida's sauce may be the greatest thing in the world. Also grilled pineapple. I don't understand why it gets so much better when grilled

Has anyone made the jump from a propane / natural gas grill to a charcoal grill? I've heard the difference is amazing but I just can't imagine being able to regulate the temperature well on a charcoal. Is it worth the switch?

Use propane!
Taste the meat, not the heat.

No place for comparison at all. I must admit I`ve never cooked on a natural gas grill, but I`ve eaten few times food made on such grill and the difference is huge. Indeed, maybe the first few times you can overcook (i dont know the exact word in english) the meat, but once you get used to the charcoal you`ll never look back.

I fell for it too...
Grilling steak is my absolute favorite. I love putting ribs in the barbecue too, but it needs good preparation to really have taste. Currently my family uses a 2/3 barbecue sauce, 1/3 maple syrup mix for glazing, and it's pretty good.

I rated you 5 out of 5 stars, and would rate you 5 out of 5 stars again. If only I could rate you six!
I think my own parody of a girl blog couldn't even hold a candle to this. I even misread "Gril" as "girl" and didn't realize what was going on until halfway through your post. This was truly entertaining.
EDIT: right, what do I like to grill?!
Well, I enjoy burgers and sausages as much as the next guy, but the real thing I love grilling is ONIONS. I take some of those suckers, chop them into quarters, skewer them and put them on the grill to caramelize and just become delicious. It's basically the best.

I would pick charcoal 9/10. If i have the time to set up a charcoal grill I would do it but its much easier just to push a button and be ready to go.
I personally think almost every meat tastes better on charcoal except hotdogs/sausage, but that might just be because I suck at not overcooking them.

I myself don't have one but I ate some at a friend's BBQ and it was amazing. I personally love grilling food... yum!

I need a new grill ffs...

Well its not necessary something you cook on the grill, but I love to have pieorgies with a cookout. They are a great side to just about anything that is cooked on a grill. If you've never had pierogies I strongly recommend trying them. Even store bought frozen ones are good.

Excellent.
Glad to hear you're joining the club. I'm quite partial to grilled Kielbasi as well as hamburgers and hotdogs and the like.
I have to say though, my absolute favorite is to leave ribs in a marinade over night and then slow cook them for a good 5/6 hours. mmmhhhmmmmm
Kebabs are also quite excellent.

Without a doubt. I used a gas grill all last summer, and got a lot of good meals off it, but the guy I was keeping it for moved and took it with him so I picked up a charcoal grill for this summer's grilling sessions and the taste has been noticeably better.
Regulating the temp is a good bit harder, but really it all comes down to getting good charcoal. I've used some pretty crappy stuff that burns hot, fast and short, but there is charcoal out there that gives a longer, more stable heat. Also, its important to remember you're not cooking with flames when you use charcoal, you want to be cooking over embers to get the most consistent and even heat possible.

Charcoal or gtfo
no really, its so good.

I prefer to use grills made of pure gold. They flash prestige and status and really set you apart from the nobodies who just have normal grills. There's also almost no performance downgrade from purchasing grills made of gold as they function in much the same way as regular grills.

Get a smokey joe, stick a thermometer in there, grill some food, eat it :D. My favorite is probably shish-ka-bobs. When done right with veggies, pineapple, and some quality marinated meat, it's game over.
|
|
Well, you cant control the temperature of the charcoal. I`ve made my grill by myself and instead of controling the temp., I move the grill grid up and down depending how I want it. I even very rarely use charcoal. Mostly I use just normal dry wood, set it on fire and wait till it gets something like that :

This gives enough high temperature for at least an hour.

pretty much you alter the height of the grills you put your meat on when you start the grill with charcoal, you let it burn for a while, then hover your hand over it to find out if its hot enough, put the grillables on and from there on its just trial and error really if you know your grill and the charcoal youre grilling with, you'll know how much time itll take to a) for the meat to be ready b) if there is too much heat or too little heat c) how long the charcoal will burn so you don't get the rapid decline of heat when the hot coals are nearly burnt out while you're grilling
also, everything you smear on the meat, be it marinade or oil to keep it from drying up, will induce flames that are unavoidable, but keep the flames up for too long and it'll burn the surface of the meat too fast. Water or beer (personal preference) will help to regulate the flames / overall heat to an extent
all in all its trial and error everyone has their own methods and tricks to get the job done right
so i'd just advise you to try and find out for yourself its rather rewarding :D

Pork chops, with my secret homemade dry rub. Steak, of course, is awesome, although at the cost of serious amounts of manliness, I must admit my wife is at least as good at making a steak as I am.
Or, one of my favorite self-invented recipes: Grilled garlic shrimp over white rice cooked in a 50/50 mix of water and red wine, with pineapple pico de gallo.
