I suspect that I would be much better if I could just have a better computer, but I can't afford one (I pay for my own university and it is $5600+ every 4 months plus living expenses). I play it a LOT though, but I'm enjoying the game below the level that I could enjoy it at.

I have been trying to train myself to be more calm when playing. This may seem like a trite suggestion and maybe it is not true of most people, but I have found that simply listening to music I like while playing allows me to be significantly calmer. Give it a try if you haven't already.

But anyway, I think anyone can be good at SC2. Even people with severe physical handicaps have proven to be able to play the game at a 'decent' level in the eyes of the SC2 community, so I believe it's only a matter of gaining more patience with the game and taking your losses less to heart and more as learning experiences, which is way easier said than done in a game like SC2. Really, though, if you're getting frustrated with SC2 try out the BW ladder; you don't have silly ladder placements to worry about because you're completely aware that a Korean is out there waiting to stomp you any second now, so you spend more of your time learning and enjoying the game instead of becoming angry at the fact that your W/L ratio or ladder placement is in jeopardy.

Give it a try if you haven't already. That depends on the nature of the frustrating and rage! If you are frustrated with not being able to play well, yes, BW might not be for you. If you are frustrated because your wins feel unrewarding, quite the opposite.

She can barely handle Magicka. Would make for an interesting experiment, though: "Can I get my Fiancee out of Bronze league?" I don't know, if I were in that situation, I'd probably respond that it's a difficult game to learn but if she feels she really wants to, I'd be happy to help. I'd start by pointing her at the single player campaign and then trying some games against the AI on Easy. This can end one of a few ways: 1) She gets into it, gets frustrated, and stops. 2) She gets good enough at it that you can find some ways to have fun together that don't require that she be that great, like 2v2. 3) She gets as good or better than you are, it consumes all of her time, and you wind up thinking "How could she ever have handled dating a Starcraft player?"

![]() hmm when i play BW i am always like, damn this guy was just better gg in sc2 idk, maybe everyone thinks that he is better than the opponent - by the default, maybe we all think like "i am the best" when we play ladder, that makes us rage when we lose ofc when we play pro we are not raging cuz we know he is better but when playing ladder which makes us play "equal" skilled players we dont want to admit that he was just playin better... this or the game is just so random :D

broodwar (though a better game) was frustrating as fuck when you knew you could do better but were just too slow at multitasking!

haha I played BW myself and had long practice sessions with my B- friend who rofl stomp me 30 - 0. It really is true, its fun even if you lose in BW. You don't get that in SC2, and in my case I don't even have fun when I win. I just don't play BW because I want to get somewhere competitively, because as we all know its practically impossible to even get B- unless you've been playing for the past decade. I'm still unsure of what to do... Because when you really love a game like SC2 and then start realizing the possibility of the game not being the right one for you to play is really painful. Plus the problem about taking a break from the game is that I'll get even worse as time goes by. So it's either I figure my shit out or quit the game completely.

Getting right to the point, I play both still and I have to agree. I do find more gratification when I snipe science vessels with scourge or kill an entire army of medics and marines with hold position lurkers just like terran loves to turn goons into blue goo. In SC2, they only added banelings, fungal, force fields and usually banelings are the ones getting most of the excitement. So the guy doesn't like the strategies in SC2. Big whoop. Brood War isn't a bad suggestion considering it is what every RTS should strive for.

Exact example of what I was talking about. On June 14 2011 01:22 KTF_CloaK wrote: QFT Brood War for life, don't be saying no thing you don't know anything about. Sc2 is cool and all, but don't go around claiming it's the best competitive game out there and that there is no copetition in the scene like it, that's just not right man. Plus you'll get BW lovers like me to derail the thread lol ![]() COMPLETELY off-topic, the dude is looking for help and this man just came in to argue about how he is so totally wrong in his opinion on the best RTS. On June 14 2011 01:47 Black[CAT] wrote: LOL at SC2 is best competitive game "out there"..I facepalm'd...And I came into the starcraft scene due to hearing SC2 coming out... Dragoon's death sound is more awesome! I love hearing them saying "Fuck you"(is that what they actually says? Cant really figure out whats its saying....) before they dies.. What does any of this have to do with what the man was discussing? There is no BW discussion, people decided to hop onto this thread to derail it. You cannot defend this by saying it was some sort of legitimate BW discussion and not an obvious derailing. Crunchums was the one I was referring to in my post you chose to quote. If that isn't true to what I described, then what is?

Anyway, OP, I know exactly how you feel, and it's largely a sign of you being that invested into the game. I'd just take breaks away from the game if I were you, or try to cut down for a bit. Don't be impatient about improving and take days long breaks if you have to. Unless you're aiming to become pro, there's nothing worse than no longer having fun with a game.

So I was just walking home past some typically annoying Hispanic guys when... Don't you think that people would want to talk about that? No matter what he says after that?
