I play Stacraft 2 because as you all know it is pretty much the best competitive game out there right now. I love following the tournaments, I love watching myself improve, and most of all I love all the competition around it. No other game has the following that SC2 has right now.
It's considered to be a game that requires every fiber of your being to be able to be good at it. Intelligence, endurance, dexterity, all the respectable traits of a gamer.
So ya, I feel good about being a "SC2 player".
But seriously after the month I've spent starting up the game again and trying to get into the swing of things I feel like the game does nothing but make me feel annoyed and irritated, even if I win. Losing is one thing but feeling pissed off as I win is a problem. Like successfully defending hellion harass with a good banshee follow up. It's annoying as hell and I don't feel any gratification out of defending against it. It's like going into a well paid job that makes you do some of the most annoying and irritating things for the entire duration of your shift.
I'm very good about not raging out of control. I typically close my eyes, "gg", and leave the game and walk away from the computer. But the feeling of anger is always there, and over time I've been finding it harder and harder to keep playing and staying calm. So basically each rush of anger has been getting stronger and stronger and is getting harder to manage.
I know you guys hate these types of rage blogs, so I avoid making them. However this is a special case because I feel like I have a potential problem that will stem out away from this game. Lately I've been getting thoughts of just hating my opponent personally rather than just being irritated with the game. I always tell myself "Cheese, annoying tactics, all-ins" are part of the game. But now I'm hating the actual player that uses them. Wtf is wrong with me right?
I feel like if I can't play SC2 properly I'm inferior as a human being. Which is really depressing. I don't mind sucking at it, but I should at least be able to approach the game without hating people right? So what do you guys think? Is SC2 for everyone and if you can't play it then that means there's something wrong with you IRL? Or is it just a game that not everyone is meant to play...

the obvious solution is to take a couple months off...you have probably just burned yourself out.

Well, the Starcraft games are real-time strategy. That's definitely not for everybody. It's intense and irritating, but it's supposed to reward you for skill and clever tactics. If you don't feel rewarded, then it probably isn't a game you should play a lot. There are plenty of other games out there that reward you in different ways - most of which are much less stressful. That doesn't mean to say you can't play SC2 sometimes, but if you devote your life to it like some people do, you're probably going to be angry all the time.

sc2 is not meant for me
i hate colossus and rpach and marauder so i cant play any race

In my experience it is really important to enjoy a game because of the game and not just because of the competitive aspects of the game. There are too many ways of competing and feeling that sense of improving yourself to force yourself to play starcraft 2 even though you don't enjoy the actual game.
So my advice would be to step back from the competitive aspects of the game for a bit, maybe play team games or FFA if you cant separate 1v1 from competition, and find out what it is about the actual game of the starcraft 2 that you enjoy, then add back in the competitive aspects while keeping that source of fun in mind. It seems like the rage you are feeling is stemming from over emphasizing competition and under emphasizing the actual game part.

Nope, I don't enjoy laddering or massgaming either. I only really love to play at LANs.
Give it a shot to see if you can get over the hump and if that doesn't work out then move on.
I still love to watch and I play other games. There's no point in playing something that you aren't enjoying.

Don't you love the sound of Science Vessels exploding, or stop lurkers killing like 20 marines, or 2 zealots making 5 tanks explode with mines? Oooooh. Right, SC2 doesn't have any cool sound effects like that. Maybe that's why you're bored.

in the BW section (yes, I consider Blogs as in the BW section ) isn't going well and will only attract flamebaits like the post above this one. But if you like Starcraft and hate useless cheese that everyone can pull off, then maybe it's time to get into BW.
And.... Don't read this if your name is not Chef + Show Spoiler + Because of you ****** JD lost again!

It just sounds like a huge problem with your mindset more than anything else. Do you enjoy playing the game? Cause if you're angry and not having any fun out of winning then yea, this game might not be for you.

Brood War for life, don't be saying no thing you don't know anything about. Sc2 is cool and all, but don't go around claiming it's the best competitive game out there and that there is no copetition in the scene like it, that's just not right man. Plus you'll get BW lovers like me to derail the thread lol Sorry, but I gotta stand up for my game brah.

Yep, I agree with posters above. Try BW.
Because all those things you described (cheese, annoying tactics, all-ins) are also in BW, but somehow... they're actually fun!
And as Chef said, if not for anything, then try BW to hear the beautiful sound of Science Vessels exploding. It's mesmerizing!

Stop-lurkers killing 20 marines, very cool.
Nestea baneling mines killing 50 marines....even cooler.
Now that I think about it though, science vessels dying is the greatest sound ever.

RTS gaming in terms of multiplayer was something I thought I would never get into. I usually play the campaigns and that's where my fun lies. I practically failed when I am competing against other people because back then, I always relied on the mouse too much when I could have made use of hotkeys back then.
It is because of my experiences of failure that repelled me from buying Starcraft 2, til I bought the starter kit (we can play the game pre-paid if we can't afford the full game) tried out the multiplayer and I decided to give it a shot. Even though I still sucked, I kept on playing, watched Starcraft veterans play and commentate, and eventually I have been converted into a SC2 junkie. XD
As for your question, SC2 much like other games of different genres cater to a specific type of gamer. It doesn't mean you suck just because you can't get into that genre, though I have been trying to get my friends into the game and at least give the custom maps a chance.

I thought BW was the best competitive game out there...

Such unnecessary derailing by jaded BW vets who want to offer you no help but to transition to 'the better game'...
Not to say BW isn't the shit, I've been playing that since I was 8. But the insane derailing of this thread just to say 'lol ur not having fun bc ur not playing BW' is stupid.
Anyways bru, I feel your pain, I am the exact same way. I get the same kind of thoughts in my head, that hey, maybe this game isn't for me? But then I just hop on with some close friends of mine, go rip up some team games and pull some silly shit (multiple nydus worms with cloaked+nuke ghosts ftw!), and hopefully over time you'll gain back your love for the game itself (if there was any true love there in the first place).
Believe me, I have been thrown into some of my worst fits of rage over this game, but at the same time, when I can collect my thoughts and really just play the game and conclude why it is I am still playing the game, it can calm me down and help me deal with my stress over the game more efficiently in future situations.

LOL at SC2 is best competitive game "out there"..I facepalm'd...And I came into the starcraft scene due to hearing SC2 coming out... Dragoon's death sound is more awesome! I love hearing them saying "Fuck you"(is that what they actually says? Cant really figure out whats its saying....) before they dies..

Sad to see BW folks incapable of offering discussion beyond sub-1 sentence trolling.
