So today I get on with 98 wins as zerg, 2 away from the next emblem of course.
I play my first game. It's a protoss. ZvP is probably my strongest matchup(Every gold/plat protoss does the same push shenanigans and I learned to stop it pretty fast...), so I fear not.
He goes in for a 4gate and I've already expanded and have 2 spines and a few roaches, easily defended, and then I outmacro him from there. The only shot he had left was his miniature death ball, but I convinced his army to chase a group of a dozen lings off then sniped the colossus chilling out at his front door with roaches.
An easy victory in my eyes.
I took a break for a few hours and came back. First game, ZvP on slag pits. I get quickly off-my-game and outplayed. I didn't really commit to roaches or speedlings so I was really boned when he pushed in.
Played another game immediately after. It's a ZvZ. ZvZ is easily my worst match up, I never have a plan. I just do random shit and hope it works out. I do a 14pool with some early ling aggression, take out a few drones but he has some lings at the same time so it didn't do much. I get some roaches and block my ramp while expanding, then do a roach push. He's just getting roaches so I kill his entire expos mineral line and about half of his mains with 15ish roaches, but lose all of them. During this time he was making a wave of roaches, he pushes and I lose.
99 wins. Just lost 2 games in a row. Nothing puts me down like 2 consecutive losses. I convince myself to play until I get that last win. I knew I was close to platinum. I had played 27 platinum players in a row, I had to be close to platinum. But I wanted that win. In the back of my mind I hoped the 100th win and the platinum promotion would result from the same game, however I chose not to fancy the dream.
The game starts. It's ZvP on shattered temple. I do a 9 scout for close positions(if P is there I normally 14 pool instead of 14 hatch). He isn't there. My overlord didn't see him close air.

Cross positions... perfect for my macro style I enjoy... I think to keep my drone at the watch tower and assume he's doing a forge FE when he scouts cross pos or the typical herpderp timing push. Something tells me that its stupid to not scout. I shift-queue the drone to go to the top of the ramp and return to the bottom.
The drone hits the top of the ramp as I change to it's camera.

That's odd... we are around 20-25 supply and all he has at his ramp is the typical zealot-gateway-cyber wall...

Stargate is building.
1 Gateway, 1 zealot, 1 stargate making a unit.
Immediately I drop a gas and a roach warren and research lingspeed while spamming lings. The roach warren finishes and I make 4 roaches. I approach his ramp with 4 roaches, ~20 speedlings, and an erection.
This is the day that I learned that a Phoenix and 3 Zealots is not the hard counter to a roach-speedling push.

He quits the game after his first zealot dies.
The promotion window explodes onto my screen similar to the way an obese man explodes through the double-doors at the local asian buffet.
Not only did I get possibly one of the easiest wins of my life, I also got the 100 wins as zerg and the promotion to platinum.
Today was a good day.
(On a side note, a strong coincidence, when I was promoted to Gold it was a Protoss player who rushed air on close-air positions metalopolis. It just so happens that the 2 times I've been air rushed on ladder, I get promoted. I like this pattern. Diamond next time? I can only hope.)

Not nearly as awesome My win rate against the last 25-30 Platinum players was about 60-70%. So it's good. Normally my goal is if you go to my match history for 1v1(you can only see 10 games without scrolling down) to only see 4 losses or less. If I have half losses I'm normally not happy with that. And that's why I hate losing 2 games in a row so much! :D

2 games is honestly nothing to lose. Just go look at some of the pro players. Lose up to 8 games in a row when they aren't playing their best. When I got demoted to Platinum from diamond I played all day and went 4 wins and 20 loses, one of my loss streaks was 13. Don't get discouraged and keep playing. Grats on the promotion.

I started on release, but only did 2v2 until about January. I was placed in silver on release but when I started doing 1v1 seriously in January I was probably low-gold in ability. Now I am about mid-high plat based on what I'm matched against. 2v2 helped me learn the game I'm sure, but I started 1v1 at high-silver in January and I'm plat now in June. Only got 100 wins in that time-span so you get the idea
Goal is Diamond by end of summer and Masters by end of 2011
