IGN Proleague Qualifiers: Wed, Thrs, and then Sat, Sun 6pm EST. These are great matches to watch. Just last night LaLush took out White-Ra in an excellent ZvP. Tonight we’ll see Darkforce take on DDE in a classic ZvT. Not all these guys are top tier, but they are up against some of the best. Do they have what it takes to earn their spot in the IPL Main Event? The pressure is on. A $50,000 prize pool is sure to turn up the heat.
NASL Week 6
I used to try to break down all the matches, but I live a much more balanced life now. Lets face it, nobody is gonna watch all 25 matches this week. Let me make it easier for you, leaving you time to finally weave that basket you’ve been dreaming about.
With only 4 games left in divisional play the race is on for the top 2 spots in each division. The top 2 players from each div will secure themselves a spot in the championship bracket. The next 20 players with the most points from divisional play will fight it out for 5 more spots in the championship bracket. That means if you’re not top 5 in your division, you’re going to be done this year and have to fight for a spot next season.
TLO vs KiWiKaKi: Division 1: Wed. 18 9pm EST
Oh man, this is gonna be huge! KiWi is the runner up in the recently completed IGN Proleague and in MLG Dallas this year. His tourney play has been amazing and his only losses have come from the elite of SC2. TLO should need no introduction. He’s an innovator, unpredictable, and ruthless. Both players are in the middle of the division at 3-2. A win for either would put them closer to the coveted top 2 seats in their div. while a loss might mean neither player will make it to the championship bracket. What what what? No TLO or No KiWi? That’s just crazy to think. Lets see who comes out on top in what is considered SC2’s most exciting matchup.
Moon vs Sheth: Division 1: Wed. 18 9pm EST
ZvZ is so fun to watch. Both these guys are have shown some amazing play in this tourney and now they battle to see who’s going to take that top spot in Division 1. Both players are 4-1 and basically tied for 2nd place. There’s alot on the line here, lets see who gets those infestors first
Artosis vs Grubby: Division 1: Wed. 18 9pm EST
Lets face it, both these guys have been terrible in the NASL. Lets see who’s the biggest loser this week.
TT1 vs White-Ra: Division 2: Thursday 19, 9pm EST
This is the last match Thursday night so it will most likely be more like 11pm EST. White-Ra is at 4-1 while TT1 is 3-2. A win for White-Ra keeps him at the top of Division 2 while a win for TT1 will keep him out of the bottom 16 overall.
Squirtle vs Slush: Division 3: Friday 20, 9pm EST
These guys have been fascinating. Slush has had some of the most unorthodox play in this tourney while Squirtle is showing his Korean training. Slush is tied for 3rd in Division 3 while Squirtle is the sole owner of the #2 spot. A win solidifies their position near the top, but a loss for Slush could put him near elimination. This division is tight, with alot of guys at 3-2 or 2-3. What happens here and in the next matchup has epic ramifications for the divisional standings.
Naniwa vs Nada: Division 3: Friday 20, 9pm EST
Both these players are at 3-2 and the winner is going to move up to a spot very close to the top while a loss could put them in the 6 spot. Naniwa is coming off an epic 7 game series in the TSL-3. Can he perform as well against this terran? Can Nada channel the spirit of Thorzain?
Ace vs Select: Division 4: Saturday 21, 9pm EST
Oh Em Gee! Are we really going to see a championship quality match this early in the tourney? Hell yeah we are! Ace and SeleCT are playing some of the best Starcraft 2 around and as a result both guys are at 4-1 and tied for 1st in Division 4. Not only is this a battle between two greats, but its a TvP! Do not miss this.
MC vs HasuObs: Division 4: Saturday 21, 9pm EST
MC needs a win. He’s 2-3 in this division and he really needs to get his shit together. He’s been playing like he trained in Guadalajara instead of Korea. The 2 time GSL champ needs to make a run now if he’s going to move on in the NASL. HasuObs is no rollover though. Hasu is 4-1 and tied for 3rd. With alot on the line for both players, look for some aggression in the newly patched PvP match up.
Sen vs LiquidTyler: Division 5: Sunday 22, 9pm EST
I would not want to be in Division 5. Tyler has quite a task in front of him this week going up against the only player to beat IdrA in a big since MLG Dallas. Sen is a solid zerg player while Tyler has had issues as of late. Can our American Protoss fight his way out of a losing record against one of the top in his division?
Boxer vs SOcke: Division 5: Sunday 22, 9pm EST
Sen, IdrA, Boxer and Socke are sitting at 4-1. One of these guys is falling back this week. Boxer has shown moments of brilliance. Can he keep the nuke in his pants and secure a win?
IdrA vs Zenio: Division 5: Sunday 22, 9pm EST
Sen took out IdrA last week, handing him his only loss in the NASL. IdrA faces yet another zerg this week. With all the casting, podcasts, webshows, and other obligations our superstar angry nerd has had this month, did he have time to practice his ZvZ? For his fans, lets hope, for his haters, lets hope not. Zenio is at 3-2 and in this division, that means you’re not in the top 4. Lets just hope they don’t run into each other in an elevator before the match
There you have it, boys and girls. Another week of awesome competition. If you need more, check out the EG Masters Cup for team competition this week. Root vs MYM Wednesday at 9pm.
