so how am i supposed to sleep. with NASL being on at 9pm going till god knows when. then gsl being on at 5:10am. when is one supposed to sleep theses days. for most europeans and such this is easy, you wake up early to watch nasl then come home early to watch gsl. poor north americans. we cannot do that
so how do we decide what to watch. I love to watch things live as watching vod's seem to just spoil the entire live experince of the event. its like watching recorded hockey. its more boring, you don't get the exicitment of being able to see it live in action.
so how do you decide what to watch and how do you change your sleep accordingly.
then once IGN comes up, there will be more to watch, and less time.
would it be bad for maybe all the leagues to get together and do one big tv like stream with all different tournaments filling certain time slots. that way we never have to have conflicts in our watching.
I'm not sure if this all makes sense, i'm tired and soon i will be getting a total of 4 hours sleep a night, not happy bout that, but happy esports is growing beyond one person capacity to watch

Sometimes I'm away at the weekends so I miss whatever is going on there e.g. TSL or MLG. So then I start watching the vods from that during the week and then realise I'm missing the GSL games live too because I'm too busy watching TSL Then I have to watch the GSL vods too and there is always some other event going on that I'm missing T_T
On the other (more important) hand, it's absolutely awesome that there are so many big events going on like this that even a student with loads of spare time like me can barely keep up :D I also have to somehow work into my schedule a time when I can actually play the game too... oh and maybe think about doing some work at some point.

Even if you live in Europe and want to catch all games, it's really hard. A bo5 series lasts about an hour and a half and there is a lot of interesting ones to watch every day. I have a job, a girlfriend who does not watch Starcrat II and I still want some time to play. It's impossible to watch every single game (even half) played in NASL, MLG, TSL and GSL and still live a normal and healthy life
|
Owh, so you moved to sc2 already.... GL with time management, but dont reduce sleeping time...
|
yeah i just watch the vods and skip to the meat unless its a semifinal/final match
|
NASL (3 month long season) is like baseball. You wait the next day to see the highlights. Occasionally, you tune in to watch an anticipated game. Overall, you start to tune in once the playoffs start happening. So, you shouldn't be too worried. You can still watch the GSL .

You think thats bad then think Brood War, during regular proleague we have 5 days a week of games, which start at 13:00 KST half the time(which equals to 5/6 AM in Europe). Then you have MSL and OSL on top of that.
So worth it though.

What's wrong with vods? I find them to be so much better since you can just skip over the casters talking nonstop. It saves me so much time just skipping the first minutes of tasteless/artosis talking every match.

It is not live, what good is it watching games when you can't share it with everyone, at the same time.

It's getting out of hand.
GSL, NASL, MLG, IGN, on top of iCCup TV, GLHF.tv, Go4SC2, Zotac Cup, GSTL, CraftCup, DreamHack, and CES. And Day9 dailies and State of the Game...
Plus editing Liquipedia, writing news, sleep, work, food, booze, women, driving, reading, regular TV, family, and god forbid I actually want to PLAY some SC2...

haha, I've stopped watching every single game in the GSL & TSL, I only watch games which interest me (mc involved, or july involved or huk involved). It's impossible to keep up with everything if you want to also lead a normal life.
What I usually do now is check the thread, find out which games were recommended the most (since I don't care if the games are spoiled or not) and just watch 1-2 sets. I've watched almost all of the TSL games though (except the foreigner vs foreigner ones) and they are pretty entertaining.
I haven't watched GLHF, zotax, craft, etc in about 4-5 months because of this.

In my experience, I can only followed 1 tournament a day super closely and hardcore (watch everything live, know the brackets, etc). I rely on VODs and forums to keep up with others on that sane day. personally, I'll be following the TSL and NASL (if the production quality meets my standards).
|
You can also watch the EU rebroadcast, its will prolly start ~ 2 PM in Canada, depending on your timezone (if your job starts early)

I agree. It's really hard to keep up with all the big tournaments that's been going on and that will be going on. I can't keep up either! So I decided to pick what I want to watch. I never watch the GSL because it's clearly at a really odd time for me
The only thing tournament that I have been following up close is the TSL. and definitely NASL, but there's no way that I'm gonna be watching it live every single day, specially on the weekends. That's where season pass helps

I sometimes like follow a handful of soccer leagues; 2 french leagues, 2 UK leagues and the Champion's league. There are tons of matches being played each week. Obviously I can't watch them all. So what do I do? I make a choice; I select a few recommended games that I'll watch entirely, live or recorded. As for the rest of the games I don't have time to watch, I just look on the Internet for the results and standings.
Here comes a time where it's going to be physically impossible to watch every single tournament / pro games. So just like with real sports, as a spectator, you got to make choices.
Also please take this piece of advice: stop caring about spoilers. With so many event, and so much content available you'll realize that spoilers do not mean anything in the end; just like in real sports.

I was also sad to find out the broadcast started at 9 in the evening, 5 matches a day and that could go on for a long time which interrupts all my morning activities. I'll probably have to catch the European rebroadcasts.

Not to mention if your watching, your not playing.

I play both BW and sc2, never implied that i don't play bw or sc2. mainly i watch sc2 live and bw, the vods (since they are free). i play and watch both. but my time is limited with work and everything. sometimes though i play bw when watching sc2. so i play both, and lvoe both.

my point exactly. aweoms ethat there is so much, but its hard to try and fit in playing plus watching, plus keeping up with what your not watching but intrested in. sc2 is a fulltime job in this respect.

i really don't care bout spoilers either, sometimes if i fall asleep during a gsl i'l look at results. for me though its the aspect of it being live that gets me. knowing that thoudsands are seeing this with me is a cool feeling and one that doesn't come with vods'

Living in Europe doesn't make things all fine and dandy. The GSL is on around noon, i.e. right in the middle of fucking school, so I can only watch if i've brought my laptop that day (rarely) or if im home for some reason.
Plus any big tournaments in America mean you have to stay up until 3 or 4 am. Since those are usually on a weekend it isn't impossible though.
I think you're just gonna have to find out which matches you want to see and do your best to make time for them. With the seeming deluge of SC2 content being made you can't expect to watch everything, so just watch your favorite players.
Also, vods aren't that bad, as long as you don't look at the brackets to see results beforehand and don't click on any spoilers they can be just as exciting as a live game.

I hate skipping games once I start watching a tourney but it has to be done. there is just too much. It's just like physical sport leagues now where one person with a job or school and other obligations can't watch everything. Honestly I kind of wish there was less to keep up with as a viewer but we need all this to grow the sport and support the pros.
