Blog part 1 http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=185748
Blog part 2 http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=193953

So after my tedious application process, and dreadful waiting for results, I return from spring break, ladder a bit, then open my e-mail and find a "Study Abroad Acceptance" header.

That's correct ladies and gentlemen, mizU's going to be attending Korea University: Sejong for the fall semester of 2011. Korea here I come!

In other news, I've successfully (almost) learned to read and write hangul, still working on mastering it and need to learn double consonants and stuffs. But it's coming in handy already as I can make out progamer names and maps without asking. :D

I have yet to learn conversational Korean, but it'll be a high priority over summer and such.

I'm not sure what to think, feel, or say, but I guess I'm kinda just numb right now...
I suppose I'll edit this as my apathy fades...

Maybe I should learn to actually play BW now instead of messing around with split maps and micro maps...

I wonder if I'll also be able to play SC2... :o

Will be following this, I'm looking to go to study in exchange in Korea when I go to uni.

So how are you learning Korean? Going to classes?

Well I was learning Hangul online, they have some really good lessons, but it's missing the last lesson (the website I'm using), so I'll have to find somewhere to learn diphthongs and doubled letters.
For those of you who want to learn, this is a really neat site. http://www.learnlangs.com/RWP/Korean/Korean - Lesson 1.htm

I'm going to try learn conversational Korean by talking with my aunties when I go home for summer, watching variety shows, and hopefully finding a good online resource.

When you get to trying to learn conversational korean you can start here :

http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/ , it's run by my school and it's a good place to pick up basics (and advanceds) is that a word? it is now.
Congrats on your application. But when you say Sejong do you mean a different campus? I dont know Korea university well, are you going to the main campus?

Thanks for the link! I'll check it out fasho.

No, sadly, not the main campus, Sejong campus in Jochiwon. Although I'd like to be in Seoul, I think it'd be too difficult, academically.
Also, since the Sejong campus is just starting up, their offering really good financial support, and have a good partnership with my school, which is why I'm attending.

This. I used this site when I was starting out too, there is a ridiculous amount of content provided for free on this site. It's more about listening and reading, but you won't learn conversation by reading a website anyway...

korean universities are known to be one of the chillaxing places to be as far as post-secondary education goes. from what i heard, people study their asses off just to get in and start clubbing once there. you'll probably have more than enough time for sc, altho this probably depends on what you're studying too.

Well I'm gonna be taking mostly general ed classes, cuz I'm presently a freshman. So when I go I'll be a sophomore, thus I don't really need to take major/minor classes.

I'll be taking Korean language and culture for sure, then fill up with probably some art/history/science etc.

exchange is such an exciting thing to happen in one's education

i spent eight months doing an exchange in Japan, and it has definitely changed my life, in more ways than i could imagine

i hope you have fun, and make your exchange worthwhile -- be it learning the language or to acquaint yourself with the korean culture

I hope you enjoy your time here, if you want go watch some pro-league let me know because I'm always up for that. Otherwise enjoy your time and I hope your a lot less lazy with learning Korean than me its terrible how little I've learned. The fact that its your third language probably implies your just one of the good with languages type, so I'm sure that's not a problem.

I hope to have fun also! I'm already getting pretty damn excited. I hope to learn as much of the language as I can... being able to comfortably speak it with relatives is a goal I'm setting for myself.

!!! I'd be totally down! I'd have to acquaint myself with the subway system since I'd have to ride pretty far, but that's so baller. I want to go to at least a couple pro matches while I'm there.

I'm not fluent in Japanese, but I can speak it fairly comfortably. Reading and writing Hangul was surprisingly easy as I was told...

What you majoring in and what classes you taking right now yoonyoon? Just curious because I think it all depends on the classes you're taking whether school is hard or not.

It's probably like regular uni, where some take easy classes or are naturally smart and don't study much. And then there's those who study ALL THE TIME.

!!! I'd be totally down! I'd have to acquaint myself with the subway system since I'd have to ride pretty far, but that's so baller. I want to go to at least a couple pro matches while I'm there.
I'm pretty excited to try and learn some Korean over break:}

I have a question, how have you been learning Hangul, did you take a course?Or did you selfstudy or use books/training CDs(whatever the hell that is). I have free time when I am done with my exams and I thought i'd try and atleast learn some hangul before that break is over. Also, isn't it much easier for you to learn Korean since you are japanese?

I'm learning with websites.
I used this one
http://www.learnlangs.com/RWP/Korean/Korean - Lesson 1.htm
But it ends abruptly before you can finish.
I think the application part of it does wonders. Make sure you do the writing!

Uhm. I can't read hiragana or kanji, but I can speak a little. I actually took French in high school instead of Japanese .(-_________- big mistake, cuz I can't use French anywhere)

So no, this is definitely a new experience for me. Good luck, you should be able to learn most if it in a few hours. :D

I know this is completely unrelated, but does anyone know if you can play NA account in KR? Even if there's lag?

you can, you just download the NA client. there will be lag.

yoonyoon, i also go (went, graduated in feb 2010) to yonsei - which department are you in?

mizu, yes, "rival," in the sense that KU is inferior in all aspects to yonsei and doesn't deserve to be called that.
