Notavi/Notave Consulting/Development, "Develop Notavi" (notavi.com is taken, but notavicorp.com, developnotavi.com would be subsitutes).
Notave.com is available to register.
Significance: Latin verb meaning to brand, write, set a name in stone, inscribe, also related to notatus, which means inscribe. Notave would be a play on the word.
Other names:
Atrus Consulating / Atrus Development / Atrus Software Consulting
Significance: Father of the two sons of the Myst series of game; Sirrus and Achenar were the sons. Wrote magical books that were new worlds, with all new technology.
From wikipedia: Atrus is the main non-player character in the Myst series, appearing in all five games of the main series; he also narrates the opening of Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. He is a member of the ancient D'ni civilization, though his only D'ni inheritance is through his paternal grandfather. The D'ni perfected a craft known as the Art, which allowed them to create portals to other worlds known as Ages by writing a descriptive "linking book".
Possible domain names: Askatrus.com Atrusconsulting.com Developwithatrus.com

Guidelines on what makes a good name
1. Should stand out; Any name can stand out with the right attitude COMPUTRODE KINETIX LABS 2. Make a promise or tell a story; Name suggests motion, science, and, vaguely, some sort of penetration. 3. Suggest a feature or benefit; Will depend on the customer's stance on penetration. 4. Provokes people, attracts attention, takes chances; Check. Check. Check. 5. Easy to pronounce and spell; We can clear this hurdle with a campaign of shock and awe, an all out media blitz of celebrity endorsements and flashy, intrusive internet advertising. Also,
COMPUTRODE-KINETIX-CON 2012
Additionally the name must be unique:
* Itself or a similar name is not in-use; * Does not remind you of an existing company; * Domain name available;
I wouldn't worry about any of those.

We're doing Android mobile apps. The target audience will be other businesses from small to big who may-or-may-not possess software development competencies. That being said, we don't want our name to shoe-box us into a niche. Often times a small business will find that their product/service has unanticipated uses, or that a once-thought minor product/service offering are driving the bottom-line. Changing business names is a nightmare =)

I answered part of your question in my above post. Businesses hire us because they lack core-competencies in developing Android software and cannot justify the overhead/start-up costs of developing developing said competencies for short-medium term projects.

Since you haven't chosen a winning name yet, does that mean we should continue to throw more names in, or are you waiting till a certain date/time before you make your decision? I didn't want to post multiple times, but if my first suggestions weren't what you're looking for then I can come up with more.

We want to decide on a name by the end of Sunday this week. So far I've picked out a few names which I really like which I'll forward to my business partner and await his response (we both have to agree). I'll update the OP with the deadline.
