...and I loved it!
When WarCraft III was released, I was way too busy playing StarCraft(and two more reasons: I didn't have good enough computer for WC3, and I really didn't like the sound of having heroes), but I started a playing the singleplayer campaign a week or something ago. I think the campaign is much better than the SC2 campaign. My favorite race is night elves by far, they just got really cool units and I just love the fact that you can uproot your buildings and stuff like that.
I still haven't played WC3 online, and probably never will. While I can tolerate heroes in singleplayer campaign, I'm still really sceptical for playing with heroes online.
I've just done the first mission on Frozen Throne now. How long are the campaigns compared to ROC, and how much harder are they?

They are somewhat harder but fun. WC3 campaign is the best ive ever played.
After you finish TFT you can go read how Blizzard made a complete mess of the storyline with WoW and ruined warcraft universe in general by pleasing random peoples requests.

-_- I QQed after hearing Blizzard fucked up their own story

I heard WC4 (whenever that happens) will continue from WC3. Basically whatever is in WoW means nothing storywise.

The frozen throne campaign is a little shorter but its still pretty cool. It pretty much picks up right were the ROC left off. The different races are just trying to pick up the pieces after the burning legions fall, and you see the scourge become the "big" evil in Azeroth. Illidan is a LOT cooler looking now and you get to use some cool new units. Also the flow of the game and some of the annoying things of ROC were fixed in TFT. My only complaint about TFT is that you didn't get to see very much of the Orcs in the campaigns. There are only 3, The Night Elves, Alliance (the blood elves) and the UD.
Also, the UD (the last one) campaign for TFT is awesome.
All in all I love WC lore, i think its really well done and pretty interesting and better than SC's (not to say SC's is bad though). That being said, I think Diablo lore is the best. Something about the archetypal battle between Good and Evil that gets me.
Edit

No, that won't happen. To much has happened in WoW (arthas is killed, Illidan is killed Etc) They can't just skip over it. That being said, I personally don't think they screwed up the lore. WoW is a VERY lore driven game.

I absolutely loved the Warcraft 3 campaign. It makes you emotionally involved with the characters, so you feel the joy and sadness when events happen. I felt particularly sad when Maiev's warden were left behind in the sunken city while she ran away.
WoW took everything away. The characters in the game are very easy to hate and don't feel as important. Saurfang and Hogger feel more important than Jaina and Varian. That's how you can tell the story has taken the plunge.

I really liked the WC3 campaign. I felt like the TFT campaign wasn't as epic, but still good and worth playing. And yes I completely agree WoW, especially burning crusade, really messed up cannon for warcraft. After seeing the story for SC2, at least the first third, I kinda think metzen cant write like he used to.

Definitely. Ignoring literary arguments, Wc3 had probably one of the most well designed video game narratives ever, just a par below legends like Half Life imo. Yes, the story is contrived, the writing was kind of bad, but presentation and pacing? 10/10.
SC2 gets 1/10 :/.

When I get internet, in 7 days, I will start playing SCBW and SCII again. Do you think I will able to play through Frozen Throne before that if I play 1-2 hours every day?
|
The W3 campaign was sooo good. It was much better than sc2 IMO.

WC3 had the best campaign of any RTS ever in my opinion.

I played WC3 campaign on normal on train rides with no mouse, only the touchpad. Ah, that've been fun times

Am I the only person who liked Arthas from WC3? He was trying to keep his people safe and put the zombies out of their misery, but the others were like "no we can't kill the zombies waa waa waa." It was pretty sad to see him turn evil when he had to do something terrible and right, and got no support from his friends.

Yeah wc3 campaign is amazing.

The Warcraft lore is astoundingly great imo, one of the best worlds (well, to me) I've seen in a video game. It made playing through WoW a lot more interesting :D

Yeah, I really liked Arthas too, his story line was so tragic,+ Show Spoiler +seeing him turn from a paladin in training/heir to the throne, into a monster through his own actions. All he wanted was for the good of the kingdom :[ If I ever have to write a paper on a modern tragic hero, I'd write about Arthas tbh lol

After Warcraft 3, they pretty much butchered their own story with World of Warcraft, it seems the writers still haven't come to their senses after SC2.

I LOVED the wc3 campaign. Last mission was so fucking hard. I tried it so many times, and again and again I lost (this was before I knew how to play BW), so I just gave up and used cheats haha.
The one thing I don't get is why they changed names for units and made them worse in the expansion?
Ballista->Glaive Thrower Catapult(I really can't remember)->Rock tosser(I know it became something stupid)
And a few more I can't remember. I still haven't beaten TFT's campaign. I really need to get on that one day.

The TFT undead campaign is a step up in difficulty from every other one in RoC/TFT. TFT is a bit shorter than RoC, mainly cause there's no real orc campaign and the human one is short.
The final mission of the undead campaign is just insane (or it was back in the day, maybe I just sucked so much back then), on hard difficulty it just beats you down and demoralizes you. Most people need to load saves constantly to beat it on hard.

Wc3 and TFT campaigns are definitively the best ive played.
There are also some custom made campaigns that are really, really good, like wanderers of sorceria, natures call : return of the dragon, and all the lore campaigns from outsiderXE. i recommend checking those out, hours and hours of fun!
