I wake up at 6:00 AM, with somnolence still weighing heavily down upon my eyelids. "In three hours, I'll have my license!", I thought, and headed back to sleep- my alarm would wake me later on.
At 7:45, my father awakes me with his usual curt tone:
"Get ready now. We're leaving at 8:30."
I take my shower and get dressed up. Ten minutes till departure, and it should take about an hour before we get to the DMV for the driving test appointment at 9:30. Hurriedly, I rush down the stairs and nuke some spam, mac and cheese, and a croissant, scarfing it all down quickly as I fill my mug with water. After eating, I rush down to the car and we head off.
9:32 - we arrive at the DMV office, two minutes late. "Hopefully they'll allow us at least five minutes to be late," I thought. As soon as the car is parked, I rush into the building and ask a person standing near the appointment section if he's waiting in line. He tells me that there's no line for appointments, and I turn around and face the counter. There's a portly and seemingly kind lady sitting behind it, and I tell her I have an appointment.
"Your name, please?"
I tell her my name, going through the letters of my surname individually to prevent any more time being wasted.
"Your appointment was at 9:00... you're 30 minutes late."

I scheduled that shit three weeks ago: June 22 @ 9:30 AM. That's what it said on the website.
It seems that everyone has had a bad experience with the DMV one way or another, and I guess it was only a matter of time until I had mine.
TL;DR: FUCK YOU CA DMV WHEN YOU SAY 9:30 ON YOUR DAMN SITE THEN GIVE ME A 9:30 APPOINTMENT DAMNIT

Exact same thing happened to me. Sons of bitches made me pay a fine for being late too. I complained to the director, and after a short talk with his employee and with my printed out paper that said clearly "10h30 a.m." instead of the bullshit 9 a.m. the desk clerk tried to BS me into, they said it is clearly their fault, but the law says I have to pay the fine anyway. Motherfuckers lol. I payed the 35 euro fine in addition to my fucking DT exam price, and walking out the door with my official "passed" paper I flipped the bird at the desk clerk on my way out.

the california DMV gave me the wrong registration stickers. I got. 75.00 ticket for it.

LOL hahhaha nice. Man how come all DMVs seem to suck so hard? I don't think I've ever heard anyone tell me about an enjoyable experience at the DMV.

heh. first time i went to take the test i did fine and when i was pulling back into the parking lot i stopped for a pedestrian and waved them to come across. when the guy was about 3/4ths of the way across i took my foot off the brake and slowly started rolling forward. there was no way i was gonna hit the guy cuz he was like 10+ ft away, but that was an automatic fail. that sucked.
second time i took it in oakland right next to the coliseum in a pretty bad neighborhood. i had this hilarious huge black lady as my tester. when we left the dmv she started texting on her phone. after that we talked for like 5 mins about how i should not be nervous and she talked about her job at the dmv. i also had to make kind of a quick stop at a yellow light cuz i didn't want to speed through an intersection on my drivers test and she was like "WTF U ALMOST GAVE ME WHIPLASH. INSTANT FAIL... just kidding." then when i got back to the dmv we parked and i asked her if i passed. she just said "no..." and handed me my sheet. then in the top right it was like mistakes: 1 then it had the pass box checked off. i was like "WTF i believed you" and she just kept laughing at me and then left haha.

zzz. dont worry. first time i went to attempt license test, i didnt fucken fill out the 40 hour teen parent driving log correctly with all "S" in the blanks. (S stands for satisfactory), so the lady at the counter said i couldnt take it and had to reschedule, and the next available was 1 month later..... So i'm taking it 7/6 >.>

Never go to the DMV expecting things to turn out happily. Things there just... ugh. It's showering in battery acid. I'm sorry you had a bad experience... welcome to the club.

Here it's called the SAAQ.
1- Have to wait in line even if you have an appointment
2- You're added to the queue after the line
If your appointment is at 10:30, you have to get there at like 10 to wait in line. At 10:30, the line is over; you give your name. You go sit in the waiting room. At freaking 12:30, it's your turn. The lady whispers your name so you have to squint your eyes and read her lips because if she says your name and you don't hear it, she probably already dislikes you and won't let you pass.

Heh there is no way that is true (not that he said that but that you have to pay it). A lot of times in this situation it's unfortunately easier to just pay and be done with it, like you did, than argue and delay.
I paid $100 for not moving my car when the parking garage was being cleaned. I'm not even sure what the $100 was covering, since I didn't really incur any expense to them except maybe the little inconvenience of not powerwashing my car, but I didn't have the strength to bother fighting it.

Yeah exactly, I knew it was bullshit but I just wanted to get my driving exam over with for the day, and I didn't want to go to court for 35 euros ;/. After the exam, I just felt emotionally drained and didn't feel like arguing the point any further so I "F U"ed the clerk and walked out a free man.

Took me 3 tries to pass my driving test. First time I failed because a pedestrian was hidden behind a parked car and I didn't see them in time to stop and I yielded for too long (wtf?). Second time I had an asshole who said at the start of my test that he didn't want to be in my town doing the testing. (Don't have a DMV office directly in town, testing is done out of the American Legion hall.) So I knew with that guy that even if I drove perfectly I'd be failing. Third time I took the test, it was a hot day out so I had my car's A/C on, had a female tester, and tested in an area I wasn't familiar with. Drove just as I did on the first test, and passed. And that test was done out of a DMV office! Fuck remote testing sites and asshole testers who don't want to be there. Give me a warm day and a nice cool A/C anytime I'm trying to pass a driving test.

It amazes me that everyone has a perfectly reasonable excuse for failing their drivers test, even multiple times. Get real people, you didn't fail because the instructor didn't like you.

Other than always having a fair bit of wait time, though not the hours that I often hear many people having to wait for, my DMV experiences have been pretty much fine. Had to take the test twice though, the first time I did it a completely unfamiliar area that had places where stop signs weren't there and instead stop wasn written on the road. I guess I rolled a little past the line when stopping for one of those which was an automatic fail.
Only bad part was the instuctor was like, just a couple little things you did wrong, and proceeds to tell me what they were. After that she was like "O, btw, you failed the test cause you didn't stop at a stop sign."
Second time went fine, drove in an area I was at least familiar with and passed no mistakes.

Who is saying they failed cause their instructor didn't like them? I only saw one person that said something of the sort.
Just the way you said everyone made it seem like you thought everyone in the thread was doing it.

Ha, i guess you live in the perfect world over at your place.. But instructors are people too.. They have emotions, and a stressful job. I had a tester who was pissed because the computer system was down and the line was huge, I was pissed off, cuz same reasons, the line was huge, a lot of waiting....I did everything right and he failed me because I "did a rolling stop" when i counted in my head to 3 seconds every time i stopped at a stop sign. it was clearly wrong, but eh, shit happens, who gives a shit. come in the next day and do it over again.

omg I just had my full Ontario g-license like a few hours ago (after procrastinating for 5 years +1 extra because of a workers strike) and it was the most brutal thing ever. I'm still surprised I passed...maybe the bitch next to me realized that if only I could see around her fat ass, my parallel parking would have been a tiny bit easier...
Nevertheless, my next bad driving test awaits me in another 56 years, thank God!

I remember my first driver's test for my license, I got their on time, but the tester had to drag his supervisor along who was about 7' 6" and had to squeeze into my tiny 'sport' car. Long story short I failed really hard and had to try again in a week which I did and aced it. Funny how the first time my foot was 1" to far off the center of the pedal, and my hands were not at 10 and 2 squarley enough.
Lesson: Don't have their supervisor come.

I don't know if I should blog about this bad driving experience today, as there already are too many whining blogs, but I had every emotion raging in me and was contemplating flying over the median with my asshole tester.
Like wtf, today I come early for my test just to give them notification (my test was at 3:50 pm, I arrived at 3:10 and was gonna eat [hadn't eaten anything and was feeling lightheaded] and drink my much needed coffee [after 1 hour of sleep]) and to be nice... They ask what my surname is...give it..."okay get ready". Me: ''Uhhh, I just came to confirm my timing and give you a heads-up". Them (a group of 4 fucking witches, some of which have had a little too much stew): "The person before you didn't show up for their time". Me: "But my appointment is at 3:50, I thought??" Them: "What do you need to wait for?" "I need to eat, I bought Tim Horton's and was gonna eat it cuz I haven't eaten anything since yesterday, 6 pm). Them: "YOU'RE GOING NOW".
Anyway, behind all this rambling the moral of my full story would be to never give up, because when you think you're just about to fail, you just pass!
edit: when I say whining blogs, I mean girl/parent troubles lol. My mom today decided to be a bitch and vaccuum at 7 am, so I'd have a blog filled with a lot of bs.

Oh and vlaric, you not taking your test may be a little fortunate...had I got at my regular time, the asshole behind me who was honking, while I tried to parallel park in the most retarded spot, actually allowed me to get an easier spot. So keep your head up, at least now you'll have an interesting bad driver's test to tell people!

lol ya, hopefully it all turns out well tomorrow! i ended up getting an appointment for tomorrow morning out of luck (someone canceled when I called in today). however, it's in san jose alma, and I've heard from others that the exam at this dmv is harder than most around the area. THE PRESSURE IS ON!!!

I got my G a couple weeks ago after waiting for like 5 years as well. It was pretty straight forward, but then again I took it in a suburban area (Oakville) where there isn't much traffic and the people are pretty chill.
