So, i have some friends who are scrubs, who claims that zerg aren't overpowered, and some of them flat out admits they're overpowered..
To prove a point i just started playing zerg on the ladder. A race i have no experience laddering with whatsoever, i instantly steamroll anyone i've encountered so far.
Haven't been in ZvZ yet though.
My tactic? 13 pool Roach Rush. It's so overgeared your numbers can sheer overpower any tactic, you can even break a terran wall-in just from having a superior army since you don't have to spend minerals on hatcheries anymore.
So, if you know how to properly exploit spawn larva, you've got yourself a win - you don't even need to scout what your opponent is doing, just roach rush -> exe -> hydra.
It's completely safe and T & P will have to cry in their base if you execute the mechanics properly - a great example of the exploitation of these overgeared abilities are the game by OverSky (inReach) - take a look at some of those games.
Also - some of my scrubby friends (Gold and Bronze league l o l) didn't believe zerg macro was so powerful.
So i had them observe a game were i maxed a zerg out in 15 minutes on 2 hatcheries only.
Now - how can blizzard nerf chrono boost and leave this alone? Whatever happened to building hatcheries?
In BW scouting a zerg (hey, you could scout a zerg) meant something - 4 hatcheries and you knew some shit was about to go down.
What's wrong with hatcheries? If we just want hatcheries to be for resourcing how about we added a new "army-hatchery" at the cost of 150 minerals which gave you four larva to produce armies from?
Obviously that is a pretty silly idea, but it's just a line of thinking.
The problem with spawn larva is that it opens up for far too high drone production, larvae just aren't currenct as they were in BW - you have them in ample supply.
Sure, Chrono Boost makes you build faster, sure MULE gives you more minerals, but it does nowhere near match all the things spawn larva does for zerg - and i'm going on an all-in zerg killing spree just to proove a point to my retarded friends
Poll: MaDpYrO is retarded? (Vote): Yes you one dumb cracker! (Vote): No, Spawn Larva is too powerful. (Vote): Spawn Larva isn't the problem, the units are.

Of course you're going to steamroll everyone in the beginning, most people playing are WoW players, and some Wc3 players.
Doesn't mean Z is imbalanced, coem back when you tear up Ps and Ts in platinum league

Only idiots looking for easy wins against bad/medium skilled opponents roach rush.
The past day or two top terrans on Europe have evolved their TvZ to the point where it feels impossible to kill them in the early game. They've got so many options that it almost feels as hopeless as I bet protosses feel when they're in the dark and in a guessing game against zergs.
Reaper rush? Helion rush? M&M rush? Pure Marine bust on your expo? FE?
Basically everything transitioning into mass Marine shield/stim with tank support mid game (aggressive in taking expos), with one or a couple of bunkers if a zerg decides to try a bust (which suddenly became pretty damn hard just these past days).
Notice I'm not whining about it being impossible to win. But rather about it being damn near impossible knowing what the fuck the terran is up to. Everything they do transitions smoothly into an expo though, and if you try to bust that expo early mid game you most likely will lose due to your economy sucking after failing that bust.

I´ve seen response block it easily with cannons + sentry. Then he techs to phoenix and u are fukd with 1 hat and no expo.

Playing platinum i know for sure you can't just get away with 13 pool roach rush. Maybe occasionally its not the end all super mega awesome build.

Why isnt this in the sc2 forum?
|
Because it's a blogpost - it's more personal than a SC2 post would be.

What is your ELO? I've found that high rank Zerg players almost never open Roaches (except in ZvZ). Roaches may work well vs noobs, but so does 2 gate zealot rush. That doesn't make zealots imbalanced.

im a wc3 player and there really wasnt a big skill gap by any means vs some of the A iccupers i faced.

Doesn't matter what you make, the point is in early game the roach is the most effective unit in relation to your larva - and the roach rush is really strong because 7 roaches is alot more valuable than 14 zerglings.
Hydras are really really effective for the same reason, that they've become big units and don't require a lot of larvae - the high larva production is the only current problem imo.
(With that being said i still preferred 1 food hydras, zerg should be about large masses)
