i've tried navigating through thesaurus but it's not working, despite it being a fairly common word.
i'll try to describe the word and maybe someone can pick it out.
it's kind of like someone might say something that compromises something you've said implicitly. they might do it from a position of pretense and somehow undermine you.
also, i'm 99% sure that the word starts with a c.

Words that are somewhat difficult/advanced, I think. I'm not just talking about it being on the tip of my tongue... I mean I actually learn and become comfortable with the time to use the word rather than the word itself... not sure how to explain this though (ironically).
