So I'm a junior at university right now. Psych major-- nothing special. I have a shit ton of work.
edit: cut out stuff that doesn't matter.
12/14—Psychological Measurement: Final project draft due. 12/14—Developmental Psychology: Paper 3 12/17—Psychopathology: Final paper exam. 12/17—Greek History: Final examination (9-12 PM). 12/20—Developmental Psychology: Final examination. 12/22—Psychological Measurement: 20 page final project due + class presentations (2-5 PM).
This is my schedule for the rest of the week, and I am absolutely... terrified. It's going to absolutely blow, and I hate knowing I have to deal with it soon. I'm basically whining here, but the calm before the storm makes me feel really anxious.
Finals suck, final papers suck, final projects suck, fuck end of semester work.
What do you guys have to do to finish this semester off? Post your busy, busy end of semester schedules, and smile knowing that other people won't be sleeping much either!

Psych is easy and you're just being lazy.

Greek History
It's easy, just watch the movie Troy

Maybe you should stop wasting time on TL and actually start your work?
|
Go take some ridilin, I heard it helps.

Anyways, you should probably not be on TL if you have so much work to do. Just a thought.

I never said psych was hard, and never said i wasn't being lazy. is there something unnatural about not wanting to do a concentrated amount of work? =)

lol yeah-- my friends and I watched 300 after our first lecture on the greco-persian wars. we realized that the battle at the end of the movie is actually the battle of platea!

That doesnt seem so bad to me. I have definitely had far worse. Talk to me when you are running on 5 hours of sleep a night for 2 months because your entire life consists of writing/debugging code.
|
I feel you man, finals week blows and I can't wait until I finish my speech final monday. Discrete mathematics are 6 tomorrow is going to suck, I haven't gone to more than 5 classes.

Edit: I'm probably being too harsh, and this is probably your first semester where you really had to do work. Get used to it!

Undergrad is a joke comparatively.
If you had neurology in the mix, it certainly builds scientific credibility, but like religion, psychology has multiple theories that cannot be disproved by a matter of fact, they are relative to personalized interpretations, and that makes it such a difficult practice to be accurate.

Eh, this is a normal amount of schoolwork...
|
Try Biology + Music (my majors). Or better, EE + Physics for the ultimate experience.

Undergrad is a joke comparatively. Most people that I know who major in it do it only to get a high science GPA for when they apply to med school, which i don't think is a half bad idea. It's not like a chem or orgo major will help you much when you're in med school, nor will a physics major. (obviously they'll help on the MCAT but nothing past that) A bio major will give you a slight edge, but that edge is still quite little.

Well, once you know what your teacher talks the most about, you are pretty much ready for any test, paper, w/e.
|
I'm on winter break already... but uh, gl!
|
Intro Psych was a joke because of the way it was taught, essentially just memorizing the rules (concepts/definitions). It would have been much more difficult/interesting if the course focused around its application to hypothetical situations instead.
|
I have intro Psych next year as an elective course. Im also at a Junior college, but the class is gonna be 3+ hours straight, once a week. :/
CNT Major. Currently taking CSC classes since its required.

Easier than Liberal Arts? To be honest not sure, but most of my classmates have that as their major.

psych is not a science major, it's considered humanity and social science @ caltech

Psych is cutting it close to be a real "science."
I think behavioral economics is more of a science of behavior rather than psych. It bases its analysis of human decision and behavior off statistics, rather than just a bunch of case studies (GROSS GENERALIZATION OF PSYCH I KNOW).
The biggest problem I have with psych is psych majors. The majority that I meet are cocky and think they understand everybody. Really annoying :| Good luck with your week though! Just suck it up and get to work, and it'll be over in no time.

dude. i know exactly what you're talking about. some of my fellow psych majors think they're the fucking shit and try to diagnose everyone. really annoying.

I just went through your schedule and in all honesty that's nothing.
Last semester I had my Calc, Genetics, and Physics finals all on the same day one hour apart from each other, day started at 8AM. All in all, 8 hours STRAIGHT of exams (2hrs. each exam + 1 hour breaks in between). Having the testing locations in different buildings all around campus didn't help much either. By the time I had my last exam didn't know what was up and what was down. :p

I have a lot of respect for you, if I was smarter (or asian) that would be my major of choice.

I have 5 finals next week from Monday to Thursday. Life's a bitch and then you die, that's why we get high etc.
I actually have mad respect for people in those arts programs. This is due to the fact that I can't write an essay to save my ass and I am amazed by their ability to churn out grade-A BS on a weekly basis.

Yay bio. I want to double major in chem too to move myself up the ladder of science purity.

I'm currently doing a theoretical math major and a writing major... the writing is much harder.
