I didn't have any expectations money-wise for it. But well, I guess I can understand how a D newbie can't find iccup fun. I'll try playing more this weekend and if I go down to $20-30 I'll prolly quit +.+ | ||

I'm trying to think of the simplest possible analogy to explain the short term luck.... Imagine you have a chance to play a game where some guy throws a dice(6 sides) and offers you 7:1 odds if you guess right. You would want to play that game whenever you can. The only rules you would need to follow would be not risk going broke by putting a significant part of your entire bankroll on one bet, because it's the ONLY way you could lose in this kind of game. For example, a dumb person who has $100 altogether would bet all those $100 on one throw of the dice. If he loses, he lost everything. A smart person would bet $1 on each throw. This person would almost never lose such a game(you calculate the odds). So, it's easy to notice here that the short term luck can make you lose, but in the long term, you will be a huge winner, because the odds are constantly in your favour. Poker is about recognizing "how many sides the dice has" and what odds you are getting, so there's also that component that can cause you to lose, but the shortterm luck component is pretty much the same as in the first example. | ||
