Right click and show hidden devices. Enable Stereo Mix.
Some audio drivers do not come with Stereo mix, if you're one of the unfortunate, you will have to use "VAC" Virtual Audio Cable and use audio repeater that comes with and use that to stream what you hear.
Tried it sadly. I can not get my computer sound to input in to VAC either.

He has a laptop from dell or something sigmatel, enable stereo mix may be disabled in the dell/hp drivers usually it's done in the vista drivers but most times people can get away with using the un hindered XP drivers with no issue.
Unless his audio chip is pure shit they all have a stereo mix it's just by choice that some people go to lengths to hide it from the users.
As stereo mix and midi is just the wave mix or what comes out of your speakers generated by the computer
Just download the XP equivalent drivers for your audio device most times close enough to the same model works just fine
Bingo. Crappy Dell laptop I bought through my college. Awesome warranty, bad computer. I am installing a new driver now, hopefully it works.
