That's right I am done. I have quit a couple times before, but this time I am serious. Here is my reasoning why:

I believe Starcraft is a lose-lose scenario. If I try to improve and play a lot and rank up etc., I end up committing my life to it by joining teams and playing all day. I get more out of shape, I socialize less, I do worse in school, etc.. I find it very hard to be good at starcraft as well as doing well in school + having a social life + staying in good physical shape. Obviously real life is way more important than a video game as much as people might joke around that it's not. So that's a lose scenario.

Ok so then I gotta play casually. I will just play bgh, fastest, heck even a bit of 2v2 to screw around....

Then I get annoyed that my opponents are horrible. I think to myself "screw it I am just going to play 1v1, at least I am in control"

Then if I play 1v1s, I get frusterated when I lose because I am out of shape. When I do something I like to do it properly/well, or else I find there is no point in doing something if I am bad at it (unless it's EXTREMELY enjoyable but losing at starcraft isn't). So this is a lose scenario for me b/c I really don't enjoy when I don't play up to my standard, so I just get frusterated etc..

So then I start playing more and more to not lose and I get to the start again playing all day long, it's a cycle of course. I just don't think starcraft is worth it.

I can't see myself playing starcraft again simply because of the lack of free time because this year is going to be very hectic with school + work. I normally wouldn't make a blog like this but I feel some closure would be good for quitting.

Lol I hate being kinda dramatic like this but I feel it's necessary if I really want quit.

Thanks to all the people on my flist + team 404 and my failed team emerge (lol) for the games.

I'm in the exact situation, but just fast-forwarded a bit.

Haven't played SC in a while and perfectly fine with it

Yeah, same thing happened last school year with WoW. I joined a high end raiding guild during the summer and was still expected to meet raiding times, even though the homework was piling on. I then told myself that I'd still play casually, but then I realized what's the point of paying if I'm only playing a few hours every week? So I stopped...maybe I'll come back when I have some more time. It's a shame that there are so many people that can't prioritize the important things in life such as an education, work, and family over video and computer games though when the two begin to really clash.

However, nothing wrong with keeping up with the programing scene and meandering around TL :<

Sigh, stick around for the casual games and fun. You could always just UMS and only 1v1 when you feel like it. No point quitting.

You can ramble in this blog forever, it doesn't change the fact that you'll be back. We have all tried quitting several times but failed in the end.

hahaha man SC is like the heroine of video games ^_^
I don't think I've ever wished my opponent good luck prior to a game. When I play, I play to win. I hope every opponent I ever have is cursed with fucking terrible luck. I hope they're stuck playing underneath a stepladder with a black cat in attendance a

I basically stop gaming completely when school starts. If I do play, it's no more than 1-2 hours a week, if I'm lucky.

I wouldn't say it's lose lose, but sometimes you do have other things to attend to. Especially if you're around 18-20 and you've barely broken D on iccup, it's daunting to realize that the korean progamers are peaking at your age.

I didn't read the whole of the OP, but the title gave me a clear idea of what's on.

I also said that a couple of months back and I'm playing again...

Can't believe the poor timing of everything in emerge though :<

i stopped playing full-time a solid year or so ago, i mostly dedicate my time to following/reporting korean starcraft now since its much more interesting to me than playing the game itself.

I quit playing starcraft every year around the end of the summer when my life picks back up again. But so far I've always come back, even when I swear I wont :X.

The point of games isn't to be good, it's just to be good enough to have a good time. If your game playing cuts into time you should be spending on real life, it's an addiction and you should obviously drop it. But if it's not a problem, there's nothing wrong with playing a game here and there when you're bored.
