lol, the coach Bento got a yellow card after their 1st game and now a red card??
The two games that Ghana have been involved have all been very entertaining. GHA-URU will be truly something else now that ro16 is reachable for Ghana.

i want to give son the benefit of the doubt and say his mask was obstructing his vision or something, but then why would he be playing at all.

Group A: Netherlands 4 points, facing Qatar (0 points) in the final round. They advance unless they lose by 2+ goals and Ecuador (4 points) does not win. Basically Netherlands is through. They're followed by Senegal (3 points) if Senegal wins, Ecuador otherwise. Group B: England (4 points) faces Wales (1 point), USA (2 points) vs Iran (3 points) in the other match. England has +4 GD with 8 goals total, wales -2 with 4, so they have to lose by four goals for Wales to pass them. Also impossible for both USA and Iran to pass them. So - basically, England is through. USA is through if they win, out if they don't. Iran is through with a draw unless Wales wins. (USA+Iran drawing and Wales winning by fewer than 6 goals would see Wales and England advancing). Far more probable is we simply see England advancing in first place ahead of USA or Iran. Group C: Significantly more open. Poland leads with 4 points (+2gd), ahead of Argentina (3, +1) and Saudi Arabia (3, -1), Mexico last with (1, -2). Poland vs Argentina and Mexico vs Saudis in the final round. Poland is through with a draw. Mexico can win by 3 goals and still be out (if Mexico wins 3-0 and Argentina and Poland play 1-1, Mexico will be out on fewer scored goals). Saudis are through if they win - but with a tie, they will need Poland to beat Argentina. Argentina are through with a draw as long as we get a) Mexican win by fewer than 3 goals or b) a draw, they're out with a draw if Saudis win. Poland is through with a win or a draw, but can also be through with a loss as long as it's by at most 2 goals and as long as Mexico doesn't win by several or Saudis don't win. Basically - exciting group, no team is really safe. Poland is seemingly in a good spot, but they can't rule out a) Argentina beating them by several goals or b) Saudis beating Mexico. Argentina are still masters of their own destiny, but do need a win to be certain. Group D: France 6 points, Australia 3, Denmark 1, Tunisia 1. Final game France vs Tunisia, Australia vs Denmark. Much more straight forward: France has advanced, and they've almost certainly (99.9%+) won the group. (They'd have to lose to Tunisia and Australia would have to beat Denmark AND the goal difference would have to swing by 6 goals total) Will probably field a B-team, but it's also probably going to be enough to beat Tunisia, or at least avoid losing. The second spot most likely goes to Denmark or Australia: Denmark if they win, Australia if they don't lose. Group E: Spain 4 (+7), Japan 3, Costa Rica 3 (-6), Germany 1 (-1) Final game Spain vs Japan, Costa Rica vs Germany. Spain is almost certainly through. Even if they lose to Japan, they would need either a Costa Rica win, or Germany winning by 7+ (assuming they themselves lose by 1) for them to lose the second place. Most likely Spain does not lose, and most likely, Costa Rica does not win. If Germany wins and Spain does not lose, it'll most likely be a Germany advancing in second place (unless Germany wins 1-0 and Spain - Japan ends 1-1 or higher). So - even though the first round made Germany look like they were in big trouble, now, I'd say a Spain #1 Germany #2 looks like the most likely scenario by a fair margin. Group F: Croatia (4, +3) Morocco (4, +2) Belgium (3, -1) Canada (0, -4) Final game Croatia vs Belgium, Morocco vs Canada. Canada is eliminated. Belgium has looked terrible. Croatia looked good vs Morocco. Belgium is almost certainly out unless they win. Croatia is through unless they lose. Morocco is through if they don't lose, and they're through with a loss as long as Belgium doesn't win. So here, even though it's a 4-4-3 group, it honestly looks pretty likely that we see a Croatia+Morocco duo advancing, and Morocco is in the best spot to advance. Belgium does still have a bunch of individual quality and it's conceivable that they'll show up for the final game - and if they win, they are through for sure. But - they do need a win. Sad for Canada, they deserved more from their game vs Belgium! Group G: Brazil 6, Switzerland 3, Cameroon 1, Serbia 1. Brazil vs Cameroon, Serbia vs Switzerland final game. Brazil is through, and I don't really picture them losing the final game either. (Brazil hasn't lose a group stage game since 1998, when they were unfortunate enough to run into Norway.) So- they'll be out in first place, and Cameroon is almost certainly out. (They need to win, and avoid Switzerland winning). Basically boils down to Switzerland vs Serbia, with Switzerland getting second place with a draw, and Serbia needing a win to advance. Group H: Basically the same as group G: Portugal 6, Ghana 3 (0), South Korea 1 (-1), Uruguay 1 (-2). Final match Portugal vs SK, Ghana vs Uruguay. Portugal is through, and in first place unless they lose and Ghana wins. South Korea is in big trouble, because first, they need to beat Portugal. Then, they need to avoid Ghana winning vs Uruguay. IF South Korea wins by 1 goal and Ghana and Uruguay draw, it's almost certainly going to be Ghana in second place (10 goals total in Ghana's two matches so far). In theory, we could even see South Korea beating Portugal but Uruguay beating Ghana by 3, and Uruguay thus snatching second place. Uruguay has a more fair shot - if they beat Ghana, they're most likely through, as then, they just need to avoid South Korea beating Portugal. Battle for second place is quite exciting, but I'm leaning 50+% for Ghana, 40% for Uruguay and 10% for SK - ish. If these groups go how I think they'll go now, we get: A: NLD first Ecuador (Senegal) second B: England first Iran (USA) second C: fuck if I know. Argentina first Poland second? D: France first Denmark (Australia) second E: Spain first Germany second F: Croatia first Morocco second G: Brazil first Switzerland (Serbia) second H: Portugal first Ghana (Uruguay) second That'll give us a top bracket of: Netherlands - Iran (USA) Argentina/Poland(Saudis) - Denmark (Australia) Spain - Morocco (Croatia/Belgium) Brazil - Ghana (Uruguay) And a bottom bracket of: England - Ecuador (Senegal) France - Poland (Argentina/Saudis/Mexico) Croatia - Germany (Japan/Costa Rica) Portugal - Switzerland (Serbia) Fun fun fun!!

If Portugal loses 1-0 and Ghana wins 2-0, then Portugal is 2nd and faces Brazil. Might want to play it safe there. England should try and win as well. Losing and Iran winning leaves them vs Netherlands. Just realized NED and ECU both have the same amount of points, GD, GF, GA, etc except for cards, where ECU has 3 yellows and NED has 2 yellows?

The GD between Portugal and Ghana is 3, so Portugal losing by 1 and Ghana winning by 2 would still see Portugal go first since it wins in direct confrontation I think. Edit: actually you're right, total number of goals goes before direct confrontation in determining ranking. Weird.
