Group B is hilarious.

The opening match has to be the weakest opening match ever?

Group A: Netherlands and Senegal.
B: England wins, should be closely fought between US and Wales. Tbh I have 0 idea how good Iran is. I see they just recently beat Uruguay and tied Senegal in recent friendly matches, so I can see them cause some trouble here..
C: Argentina wins, giving Mexico a narrow advantage as Poland never really shows up in tourneys.
D: France and Denmark. I actually think neither Australia nor Tunisia has a single player that'd make the starting 11 for France or Denmark. On paper this is one of two groups that 'can only end one way'.
E: Spain and Germany. The second group where the outcome is a given. (obviously in the WC, big upsets happen every single year).
F: Belgium and Croatia. Pretty confident about this one too.
G: Brazil and Serbia. Overall the toughest group.
H: Portugal, Uruguay. Also highly uncertain.

This is the 3rd World Cup that Queiroz will coach Iran. If you've seen their past performances in 2014 and 2018, they can be very defensive and make life very annoying for the opposing team. They don't concede a lot of goals (Argentina and Spain "only" beat them 1-0), but on the flip side, they haven't scored a lot either. In both 2014 and 2018, they only scored 1 goal in 3 matches, and the 2018 one was a penalty. In fact, even in 2010, Queiroz-coached Portugal only scored in one of their 4 games, so it might be a Queiroz thing.
You can bet that they will fight tooth and nail for a 0-0 in their 1st game against England (or maybe even a lucky 1-0 like against Morocco in 2018), but if they lose that one, Wales and USA will be spared of having to face the most annoying version of Iran.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Interestingly, the brackets look very even to me, and aside from a probable Spain or Germany vs Belgium, all the presumed heaviest hitters have a fair chance at getting to the quarter finals.

Who are people thinking is the most likely to upset the 'expected balance'?

Personally I'm leaning towards Denmark. Can totally picture them either beating France (Denmark beat them twice in 2022 already) or Argentina.

Similarly, which 'heavy hitter' do you think is most likely to disappoint?

For reference, 2018 saw Russia knock out Spain to reach the top 8, and Germany getting fourth place in their group. Aside from that, pretty much everything went 'within the realm of expectation'.

Japan can beat and eliminate Spain in the group stage.

So Japan most likely to upset balance and heavy hitter most likely to disappoint is Spain!

Only head no heart. We will finally win a world cup and Germany expecting to walk into the semi finals but then losing to Uruguay will be glorious.

Interesting the amount of faith in netherlands.

I do have a couple of their players in my fantasy team but i was not seeing them get a top 4 as many seem to predict. Interesting indeed.
