Speaking of the USA, they look a tidy side who know what they’re doing and their main sprinkle of stardust in Pulisic has started the World Cup well. I don’t think they can go super deep but I could see them negotiating the Ro16 at least | ||

That said, I do wonder whether fatigue is becoming a factor. It's becoming clear that top teams are also holding back and can't play with full force in every game (England, Spain, Brazil, etc). This WC could be very much decided by off-field squad management and fitness regime rather than on-field tactics and individual brilliance. | ||
