frankly i'm also surprised we're super overperforming this world cup given how terrible our qualifying campaign was.

Same with some offside situations I've seen this WC, if the feet of the attacker are behind the defender's but his shoulder is 2cm offside that's not an advantage at all. Overall it's still a net positive now, but I'd like to see the rules updated so they get more in line with the problems they were trying to solve in the first place.

Denmark also participated in the 2018 wc, in an almost identical group: France, Peru and Australia. They beat Peru and drew the other two games and advanced in second place. Then they lost in a penalty shootout against Croatia, who finished in second place.

That pen would almost never be given before VAR and for good reason, it's unfair to give an 85% chance to score when the contact happens on a 0% chance. Applying the existing rules with machine precision when they were devised with the expectation of humans doing it with their eyes in real time.

Edit that's where we're at right now. Xd I wonder what red cards count as? This might be a scenario where a professional foul to hinder a goal would backfire.

France's backup players clearly not at the same level as their A-team but they avoided injury and still top the group so I don't imagine they care. Still can't believe we are going through from this group Backup players did more than fine, Khazri is born in France and spent his whole life and career in France, 4 other Tunisian starters born and raise in France, don't diss our back-ups ![]() On top of that near half our starting line up is made of back up players given all our injured players. Overall, I'm more than happy with les bleus' performance so far, I feel we have a shot, just need a decent amount of luck on our side now. I totally expected a disaster.

I'm hearing that's 7 for Mexico 4 for Poland atm. Edit that's where we're at right now. Xd I wonder what red cards count as? This might be a scenario where a professional foul to hinder a goal would backfire. It is hard not to root for another goal seeing how Poland is playing.
