I believe the argument being made there was that society has created a system of assumptions and expectations that place obligations for labour on women without acknowledging the value of the labour performed. In case it were to matter, I believe he was putting words into the mouths of people who dismiss identities with the wrong ideology to criticize those people, like with people shouting down "Uncle Toms." Maybe I'm reaching but I'm trying to figure out what the standard is, one liners of Mike "turns fruits into vegetables" Pence are okay, would one liners of Mike "gas the kikes, race war now" Pence be okay, if so would it be because the target is on a certain side of the aisle, or because "kike" isn't as bad as "coon," or the context has to somehow outweigh the word, because you can't just call people "fruits" I would presume. What are the dimensions supposed to be... context, partisanship, offensiveness? Or just the last? I think we all agree that if I'd stop going at it with danglars and xdaunt, (the known long term shitposters who should be banned); then the thread woule be better for it. and encouraging others iwth whom they fight to also stop talking to them sounds like a net improvement to me. objecting to people trying to make the thread better by not responding to the shitposters is odd. and don't complain about bad posters if you're not willing to favor action against all of them like I do. and you shoudln't conclude they won't action me until given at least a day; they're quite slow to action people, because they don't have anyone who follows the thread monitor it to nip things in the bud, they only get to issues far afterwards. on the more general topic: my there's a bunch of talk now; maybe there'll be some action. hopefully it's well thought out action; though it sounds like the mods are super reluctant to actuall ymoderate the thread to ensure a quality discussion. | ||
