One year ago, SeeKeR, who was then just a regular forum goer, decided to dedicate a significant part of his life to TeamLiquid.net and the betterment of eSports. He started out taking over the Live Report threads with his own unique brand of style and humor.
To many of us, SeeKeR's involvement in live reporting was a paradigm shift on how those threads were made and ran. The threads themselves became a more open forum. He encouraged fans to make banners, hype images and participate positively in LR threads.
SeeKeR would spend the following 6 months live reporting endlessly until his retirement in the summer of 2012. But the story of this man did not end there. SeeKeR continued his unyielding support for this website by offering Korean-English translations for foreign fans on a weekly basis, covering GSL, GSTL, OSL, WCS, among others. In September of 2012, SeeKeR's translation made it possible for the first teamliquid fan interview of a korean SCII pro ever attempted. Recently, MLG has recognized SeeKeR's talents and hired him as an official translator for their fall championship event.
Besides keeping up with providing TL.net with the most uptodate translations, SeeKeR also put it on himself to manage all the fan clubs of TL.net. His resource threads have been invaluable to keeping fan clubs organized and figuring out which have gone inactive.
All in all, TL.net is first and foremost a community website. SeeKeR has been a top community member and contributor to many things we enjoy here on this site. His works have been recognized all over by the NASL, MLG and many many fans of TL.net.
An excerpt from the last star given out by TL states:
The star next to someone's name designates them as top level contributors to our community, people who have added to the depth and breadth of knowledge available throughout TL. Though the mouse-over says 'quality poster' the reality is that it is much more than that, it shows that someone has a dedication and longevity that are unmatched.
I believe that SeeKeR has reached all these requirements from his full year of quality dedication to this website. Maybe it is time that he, too, may be granted a star for all his hard work.

I want to add a disclaimer:
Although I am good friends with SeeKeR, he did in no way suggested that I make this thread. I've been meaning to write this up for a long time, but wanted to wait til mid-november, for SeeKeR's 1 year anniversary as contributor to TL.net to do so. Personally, SeeKeR has been instrumental to helping me run my DRG fan club and communicate with DRG as well as other korean pros, for that I am very greatful to his work and care. I encourage TL fans to help SeeKeR get his star, he has well earned and deserving of such an honor.

I would totally be up for a star for Seeker, but iirc the star process is something that is discussed internally and only then awarded to the best posters. You may or may not be allowed to make a thread, but don't expect Seeker to be given a star directly as a result of this thread, though it can't hurt.

To be completely honest: a) Seeker would be one who definitively deserves recognition for his long and hard work (and he gets it, translation topics are filled with "thank you" and not "hm, interesting") b) I always associate him with self compliment or martyr (his own fanclub was in his signiture a long time)
In many interviews I read "so much work, I hope I can do it"
I really appreciate the work he does, don´t get me wrong, but compared to someone like juicyjames, who did everything without much recognition, I feel it would be to forced.
I hope that didn´t go the wrong way. I can´t stress how much I appreciate all what he did, LR, translations, overall interactions; but I always felt it was (for big parts) to get attention. Sorry...
To end it on a good note, I love how he finds his way to big stages like MLG and after I saw pictures from him in his fanclub I found him very likeable.
Edit: To add, I don´t know how the "old" TL posters got their star, so I guess Seeker would earn it. It´s just when I compare him to others like juicyjames, I think it´s too early. I would not complain if I´m wrong...

It seems extremely improbable that one would spend as much time and effort as SeeKer does for the sake of gaining fandom from anonymous usernames on a website. You should consider that he gets his praise because he has earned it, not because he has sought it.

And I would not complain if he gets a star, honestly atm there is almost nobody who earns it more. I just (personally) dislike the attitude I often see. Perhaps I´m jealous

It really rubs me the wrong way when people pulls out the psychological egoism card to use on SeeKeR. So what if he enjoys a bit of press? You make it sound like in order to be fully recognized for your hard work, a person needs to be be an altruistic saint. That's not how the world works. The fact is, SeeKeR contributed a ton to this website and some of us are just suggesting that recognition may not be a bad idea.

I should not have started this, sorry for the distortion. The fact is, SeeKeR contributed a ton to this website and some of us are just suggesting that recognition may not be a bad idea. I agree, imo it´s easy to see in my posts. I personally just dislike the way he expresses himself. GL to you and SeeKeR for the star. I´ll stop now.

Seconded. I'm not sure how the star-giving committee (assuming there is one) sees it, but I think someone like SeekeR isn't someone that deserves recognition in ways other than a star.

Definitely think he deserves one, apart from the fact that his favourite Terran unit is the marauder. wtf is up with that? I want an explanation.
|
Deserves one to say the least!
|
I'd wait a little longer to give him a star, but I think he might deserve one at some point, certainly. I don't give out stars though, so who am I to say.

It'd be nice if we can get a reply from a person with some authority. <3

Also only one brother can have the star. kekekeke

I'd support. Super consistent with translations since forever and occasional LR threads still.

Thought this conversation is a bit old, I'd definitely support him getting a star.
