I don't mean come across as a giant prude or anything but I just opened the sketchpad.TV stream and saw this:
+ Show Spoiler +
I know not everyone would find this image offensive and one can just not watch the stream if they did find the content offensive. However, I often check the stream because I've been following one of the artists doing some Sc2 related art but more often than not its someone drawing half naked girls often in suggestive situations. I'm curious to know if TL takes and stance or has any policy similar to that of the SFW pics thread that applies to the content that people stream on TL.
Sorry if I'm way off base here and I certainly do not mean to question or debate the merits of the content but I don't think the rules that apply to the images that are posted here should not apply to streamed content, especially on a featured stream.
Its still streaming now if anyone is curious for whatever reason.

We try to take a hands off approach concerning the content of streams. We don't treat them like we treat our own forums. However, if something happens repeatedly or is just really bad we may step in somewhere and talk to the owner of a stream. In this case I think your first complaint should be directed at Sketchpad.TV asking them to set their stream to 18+. If you do that and it continues to happen we can take a look at it.

Fair enough. I suppose that control of the streamed content is more the responsibility of the Streamer and the Streaming service that they use.
I will take my complaint to Justin TV and Sketchpad TV like you suggest but I do feel that TL featuring a stream that contains potentially NSFW content without some indication of the nature of the content could reflect poorly on the site.
This :+ Show Spoiler + is literally one click from the TL home page with absolutely no warning that its there.
Perhaps having an indicator could be part of the requirements for being a featured stream?

There is already a little warning that a streamer can choose to appear on their TL stream page (check Destiny's for an example). Not sure what more TL can do on top of that.
|
I'm saying that is all TL needs to do. I think that TL should require a channel to have the warning before it is featured if the content necessitates it.They can stream whatever they want as long as their streaming service of choice allows it but I find it odd that TL has a featured stream where you can routinely see softcore porn being drawn in real time with absolutely no warning that its there before you click it.

Yeah I checked their stream a couple times and it's a lot of pretty NSFW stuff there. I don't think there's much else to add except what Nazgul said though, so ^^;

is that supposed to be like Yuri.

Funny how several dozen of streams with human being killed by bugs and aliens is totally ok and a drawing of a pantie is nsfw

I'm not going to comment on the disparity in what things are considered NSFW and what things are not. However, Justin TV must have some problem with the content because they shut the channel down not 4 minutes after I reported the stream for being sexually suggestive (an understatement imo) and told them I believed that it needed to be flagged with a +18 warning as Nazgul mentioned.
I believe that it was irresponsible of TL to directly link to the stream and its contents without having some kind of warning or at least requiring the streamer to have some kind of warning as to the nature of the content.

Thanks for getting that stream shut down and saving as all from such sinful images. We're deeply in your debt. How can we thank you?

You shouldn't be watching streams at work, anyway ._.

It was not my intention for the stream to be shut down nor was I watching it at work. I wanted it tagged as containing +18 content because it contains +18 content.
My problem is with the hypocrisy of not being allowed to post NSFW pictures yet being allowed to stream NSFW pictures being drawn in real time. If the TL admins are okay with that being the case then as a courtesy to the community I would ask that they require streamers to flag their own channels as +18 if they will be streaming potentially NSFW content prior to TL accepting and then listing the stream.
I don't think this is unreasonable but if an admin tells me I'm completely out of line here I'll just leave it alone.

If I remember correctly Sketchpad is multiple artists it isn't one person and the don't say what they're drawing so you don't know till its being worked on. Its ridiculous to think TL would have to sit there and watch the stream to know that 1 out of say 10 artists is making something NSFW and i'm sure rather than reporting to justin.tv a simple comment in the sketchpad page would've been sufficient enough for them to add the explicit warning.

Sketchpad.TV's channel is back up and the artist that was streaming earlier has stated that he will now be drawing orgies on his own stream so Sketchpad won't risk being shut down again. Apparently this has happened in the past,
I apologize as my thread appears to have been a waste of everyone's time. Close please

Funny, the picture you're specifically showing is at most 13+ by the rather stupidly strict levels of the MPAA. Even with half naked women, which you've mentioned, a certain amount is allowed in PG-13 movies. And those don't have any actual requirement, it's just a suggestion to parents.
Maybe you shouldn't be watching media that hasn't been specifically approved by Mothers Against Dunkin Donuts, or whoever the latest coalition of people trying to get 15 minutes of fame by whining about something stupid is.

I think this highlights an interesting situation. Perhaps a NSFW tag can be made available so that if its something really NSFW the person can click a checkbox in the future?
IDK like for example:
[game]name[nsfw] (nsfw if applicable?)
Making a little option to turn the tag on or off could be a useful thing for TL since the stream page auto loads the stream. IDK it would help to prevent this from happening again I guess.
Though im ok with the little tag under the stream and rarely watch [misc] streams myself.

There already is a mature descriptor.
This stream should have it.
I don't know why girls in bikinis are so offensive to you, but to the vast majority of people its not.
|
Why would anyone spend so much time drawing a lesbian orgy? Have they not heard of google?
It's actually a little creepy, I mean really why would you draw that? Why would you sit down and decide, "hey today I'm drawing a lesbian orgy, sure hope my drawings arouse all of you out there"...
Anyway, uh, NSFW stuff should be flagged and stuff...
