WOOHOOO AFTER 3 1/2 WEEKS OF 12+ HOUR DAYS + STUDY TIME + FLIGHT TIME I HAVE OFFICIALLY PASSED MY CHECKRIDE TODAY!
For any of you guys/girls out there who might be future air force aviators, good luck at IFS.. it is intense but well worth the hard work in the end.
For those who don't know what im really talking about...the USAF has recently developed a program with the civilian flight training company called Doss Aviation. It is a contracted flight screening program to screen future pilot/navigators over a period of a span of 1-2months. We had 1 week of pure academics, and then 2-3 weeks of flying sorties where we basically learn how to fly, do radio calls, land navigation, dead reckoning, via the "fire hose of information" method...
This is what my desk has looked like for the majrity of the time I've spent here. + Show Spoiler +
We fly a military version of the Diamond da20, a small VFR aircraft.
+ Show Spoiler +
All potential USAF aviators must go through the program and pass or they are reclassified to other jobs or released completely. I had a lot riding on this and I'm super pumped I passed.
I start a year long undergraduate CSO WHAT IS A CSO training program in about 2 weeks, where after graduating I will learn my future weapon system and transfer to an active flying squadron..for...you guessed it, more training on that specific weapon system. It will be a long journey but eventually I might be in the backseat of an F-15 Strike Eagle or a B1 which is what I'm really hoping for.
I fly home on the 19th and I am very excited to see my wife and also to play sc again ^_^

What is your dream aircraft you'd like to pilot (or is it the B1 or F15)? When I was in kindergarten and 1st grade I used to really want to be an Apache pilot. I used to draw pictures of them all the time. Now I want to be a surgeon, but I still look back with nostalgia upon the days in which I used to dream about flying helicopters... I'm happy for you
PS by backseat do you mean navigator/weapons operator? Would you want to be a front seat pilot with full visibility or only backseat?

Weapons system officer in the backseat of F-15E or Weapons system officer or Electronic warefare officer (both are positions on a B1 Bomber)

Congrats man!
My dream was always to be a fighter pilot, but I wouldn't be able to tolerate the military, and I know they wouldn't tolerate me.

Congrats dude, even though I am more afraid of flying than death itself... you go man !

Congrats :D
I don't think I could ever fly a plane T__T You are awesome :D

I read your article completely, but I just wanted to be clear. I know TL doesn't like TL:DR.
But if there were one for this article.
TL:DR You passed a test that puts you on the track of being a fighter pilot?
If so, PROPS and CONGRATS!!!

Congrats! I couldn't do what you did. My vision is terrrrible.

Awww yeah! Props. Isn't it awesome to be one step closer to controlling a multi-million dollar vehicle of supreme engineering? :D
I always wanted to fly a jet like in Top Gun, and I have the vision for it (used to have 20/10 in both eyes), but my depth perception is literally horrible (can't even get any additional effect from 3D movies) so there was never a chance haha.
Edit: It's like, if you have the choice of going to college for eight years to work for 5-6 to buy a $300,000 car, or join the air force to study for a few years and climb the ranks so you can fly a $150,000,000 jet, which would you choose? Heh.

Wow that's pretty awesome. I got a good friend who is going through a program comparable to that and from what he tells me it really is a lot of hard work. Congrats!
