I'll take this as an opportunity to thank all the visitors of SC2.FM for their loyalty, but also to recap on some changes .. no ... EXPLOSIONS! that happend on the SC2 streaming scene.
Taking the launch / end of beta as a comparison point to now based on internal stats from SC2.FM
-> The first big tournament ever casted on SC2 was King of the Beta with ~15.000 viewers on peak. The most recent TSL 3 got over 65.000 viewers on peak
-> The normal "popular stream" got ~500 viewers back in the day and is now ~2500 viewers ( a stream on the level of Sheth/drewbie/catz )
-> The normal "community favored's stream at the time" got ~2000 viewers back then and now ~7000 viewers ( Level of IdrA / White-Ra / Dimaga or Spanishiwa )
-> Back on Launch nearly 100% of all live streams where hosted on livestream.com. Today the market is highly dominated by Justin.TV and the switch was done VERY rapidly in ~3 month. So you better watch out ... gamers are not the most loyal customers ;-)
-> Overall streamed hours per channel stayed nearly the same. Its ~15 hours per week per stream.
-> ( I can't back this up with hard facts, but a good memory ) Active streams on TL went from ~20 to ~80 on average days.
-> Taking Husky/HD as reference point : The normal VOD on YT got 10k views a week back then and reaches >300k now
-> The overall output of VODs by all channels SC2.FM is covering went from ~20 up to ~300 a day now
-> 99% of the channels use YouTube as their main vod archive. Day9 and GLHF.TV amongst very little other channels use different hosting platforms.
I'm very excited for the future and i'll keep you updated on the upcoming SC2.FM 2.0 relaunch which will then be public announced on TL and Reddit.
With best regards
Mario :D
