After watching TSL opening matches yesterday I was totally blown away. Holy Hollywood, Batman! The intro animation, the player information sheets, the interactions with the caster and DjWheat joining perfectly smooth.. everything was a brilliant. Put that on national television and people probably won't tell the difference to a professional production in a studio. The only point of improvement would be some stats-sheets for later rounds maybe..
It was so awesome, it directly compelled me to register with their sponsor and do their whole PokerStrategyQuiz spiel (probably getting me addicted to online poker now :/ but that's the price I'll have to pay).
I think TL did a fabulous job with TSL. It's like a dream come true. Day9 casting and we get to see our heroes battle it out with the top koreans. Wow!

The bar has been set.
Yes, I'm looking at you, NASL.
Was impressive yes, but I'd like to see (and I'm sure it will occur in the later rounds) alot more going on on the screen for the 5 or so minutes when we just have the pictures and 3 dot points, like some one mentioned, some statistics maybe, some footage of the players, who knows!
I don't think it's a stretch to say that it's shaping up to be the best tourney in SC2. As much as I've enjoyed some GSL games every series (except the last one) had me on the edge of my seat yesterday. That combined with the production value sure created something special, I was seriously surprised at how smooth and well everything worked.
Couldn't agree more, I forgot that this wasn't broadcasted on some TV-channel. They really should make a eSports only television channel in the up comming future!
y the production value is great. the intro, the introduction of players, the casters. Just perfect. the only problen i had, is ustream. it started to lag at the 3rd serious and did get very bad. but that is not their fault, it is ustreams. would prefere justin.tv but the rest was just brilliantly done btw. the games where pretty good as well^^ i am one of the few, who saw fruit dealer falling. check my liquibets;)

It is a stretch. It is online which is a huge detractor.
If I remember correctly TSL 1 and 2 were online? Correct me if i'm wrong. But yeh it's shaping up to be awesome, I can't wait for tonights games and TL's production values have always been off the chart.
TSL has always had fantastic production values. If I had to give some feedback, I would say an area of potential improvement would be sound. But short of getting each caster a good microphone and audio interface I don't see what you could do.
first i would like to say i enjoyed the tourney alot .
loved the portraites and the statistics and background , however as of production value i must say for me personnally everything looked too frozen , and abit 5 years ago .
in my honest belive more live video would help a tone . camera on the commentators before and after the fight , short video interviews with the players (even sorta webcam nasl like ) and if i can get totall unrealistic integrated faces of the players during key moments is JUST gold . and help alot to relate to the players and the game .
anyhow just live video of most kind would add alot more live feeling to the event and players .
It was pretty good, but, whenever the stats sheet wasn't up and there was just the picture of the players with the top 3 facts about them, it felt kind of 10 years ago just watching a still image and listening to the casters. I believe a webcam could do wonders, preferably two - even if we only see the caster's room in the background, I think it's better than a still image.
I guess they have a secret "NO Day9 or Chill" allowed admin forum for administrating this spoiler free :D Ustream deserves props for being flawless with 40k users at high definition, for free. At least for me, didn't see anyone else complaining. I wonder how many watched in total if you include GOM restreams or what that was about.
As for Live vs LiveDemo play, it's clearly evident that there will be problems with cross server play, and if you want to have the best players from every region this is the only way forward. Great job
the production is really good. some possible improvements would be to show the faces of casters sometime. i really like seeing the casters in between sets, i think it looks more professional and gives the feeling of studio.
