Liquipedia Weekly #16
Good morning! Good afternoon! Good evening! And of course, good night! Today is one of those days. You know...those days. One of the ones where you manage to make an excuse to get away from all the glorious BW, SC2, and TL and actually go outside for once. But first, you have to get ready. You have to get all gussied up. You can't just leave the house in your boxers and TL shirt (despite how awesome you look). You have to bring it.
You might recognize this...
Well LP doesn't care about going outside. All it wants to do is look smart and pretty for all the window shoppers. After all, it's totally superficial.
That's why, over the past several weeks, Liquipedia has been getting ready. It's polished its shoes, ironed a clean shirt, and invited Deetmar over to chaperone. Liquipedia will do this right.
If you're one of the regular contributors to LP, you may have glanced at the Skins tab in your preferences lately (we all know you haven't, but that's okay). And you've seen this new option. "dtrush." And then you clicked it. And then you cried at the glorious beauty.
We have a new door man
Today, I must mention salle in this weekly. Mostly because salle's paying us for every time we use salle's name, but also because salle's the one who has been getting this layout ready. You'll notice it's brighter and cleaner than the older layouts. There's a certain vibe about it that just makes you want to contribute (you want to contribute, right?) for hours on end, just so you can keep looking and the pretty colors.
But there's also disciple, one of the resident TL people we roped into working for Liquipedia. This guy took a pretty picture of Deetmar and turned it into a bunch of pretty colors which mean something. I can't really say too much more, because disciple doesn't really talk to anyone. He just posts occasionally with "Alright, X is done I guess" when what he meant to say was "Hey guys I just created the Monalisa with painted macaroni on a scale such that it's visible from space and I also just invented talking." He does a lot and we thank him for it by dragging him out into the spotlight every now and then.
Old and new
And disciple made this all possible. He came to us with a dream. A vision.
<disciple> how to say it in the best possible way
<disciple> a in arial is like [censored]
<disciple> a in arial is like [censored]
And that's what got the ball rolling. His pure hatred, absolute loathing, complete damnation of a single letter has caused Liquipedia to get a new look. It has been brought up to code. It looks snazzy now. So always remember: hatred gives birth to good things!
Using nothing but hate and the blood of a thousand Arial users, disciple designed a new layout. He said (or rather he just posted the layout image, as he almost never talks), that his new design should be implemented because the old one sucked hardcore. And Salle took a swing at it. And the results are glorious. If you have Helvetica installed, you'll see Liquipedia in Helvetica. Though if you don't, everything defaults to Arial anyway.
So, everyone, swing on over to Liquipedia II and check out the new skin. And then contribute. If you don't contribute, Deetmar will cry.
Additionally, I'd like to announce that we will be announcing something truly awesome in the next Liquipedia Weekly.
Stay frosty, TL,
- Liquipedia staff
PS,
salle
