The time has finally come to kick-start the first ever Global StarCraft II Team League (GSTL). The top 8 StarCraft II teams in Korea giving it their all to try and take home 15,000,000 KRW. It really doesn't get any better than this.
Prime.WE, Old Generations, StarTale, Team SCV Life, For Our Utopia, ZeNEX, and SlayerS. Top class teams with mouth-watering rosters, this is what makes this game so awesome. Already in the round-of-8, we have some great matches such as StarTale vs fOu, TSL vs Prime.WE, and IM vs oGs.
The match that will be covered in this recap would be between team Incredible Miracle (IM) and team Old Generations (oGs), arguably the two best teams in Korea.
It's a pity that these two had to meet in such an early round of the GSTL as both teams have players that won the last three GSLs between them in IMNesTea, oGsMC and IMMvp. Not only that, both teams can boast a monstrous roster that other teams can only dream of.
oGs are probably the most all-round team in the GSTL, having the likes of oGsNaDa, oGsInCa, oGsZenio, oGsTOP and oGsMC in their roster. Meanwhile, IM are probably the most solid team in the GSTL, with players like IMMvp, IMNesTea, IMJunwi, IMYoDa and IMLosirA in the team.

Shakuras Plateau — IMSeed (P) vs oGsEnsnare (T)
IMSeed starts off at the bottom left side of the map while oGsEnsnare starts off at the bottom right side of the map. IMSeed opens up with a 12 Gateway, 14 Assimilator build while oGsEnsnare decides on going with the one Barracks into fast expansion build.
oGsEnsnare deciding to forsake gas-mining as he gears up for the fast expansion.
IMSeed manages to scout the base of oGsEnsnare and sees that the Terran player does not have any Refinery at his gas. He retreats his Probe to the top right expansion of the map, but oGsEnsnare manages to scout it and kill the Probe.
Marines: There is no escaping the wrath of our rifles!
IMSeed returns the favour to oGsEnsnare by killing off oGsEnsnare's scouting SCV at the top left expansion of the map. Meanwhile, IMSeed decides to go for the four-Warpgate build as he begins production of three more Gateways and Chrono Boosts his Warpgate reserach.
If two's a couple, three's a crowd, what is four?
oGsEnsnare then transitions into four Barracks building two of those at his natural, along with a Bunker. oGsEnsnare then decides to scout with his SCV and manages to spot a proxy Pylon by the Protoss player.
It's a bird. It's a plane. Nope, it's just a Pylon.
oGsEnsnare immediately builds an Engineering Bay to block off his ramp and protect his Bunker. However, before it is complete, IMSeed moves in with his army of Stalkers and kills off the Bunker and forces a cancel on the Barracks which is still under construction. IMSeed even builds a Pylon right below the ramp of the Terran player's natural.
IMSeed's Stalkers eating Marines for dinner.
oGsEnsnare abandons his natural and decides to build two Bunkers up the ramp as IMSeed pushes up with Stalkers and Zealots, taking out a lot of SCVs and Marines.
Do not run! We are your friends!
oGsEnsnare lifts his Barracks and Orbital Command at the natural to retreat them to the main. IMSeed reinforces his army and pushes up the ramp, walking by the two Bunkers before the Barracks could land to block off the entrance.
oGsEnsnare tries to hold on, but IMSeed is able to reinforce his army by warping in units onto the Terran player's main through the well-positioned proxy Pylon earlier.
Zealots warping in.
Unable to move away from his Bunker and with no SCVs mining, oGsEnsnare concedes the game.

Metalopolis — IMSeed (P) vs oGsTOP (T)
IMSeed starts at the 2 o'clock position while oGsTOP starts at the 12 o'clock position. IMSeed chooses the 12 Gateway, 14 Assimilator build while oGsTOP opens with the standard 12 Barracks, 13 Refinery build.
Both players opting for tech builds as IMSeed decides to get his second Assimilator as his Cybernetics Core is still in production and oGsTOP getting his second Refinery as his Factory is building.
IMSeed then gets his Robotics Facility as oGsTOP decides to add a Tech Lab to his Factory and begins Infernal Pre-Igniter research.
Robotics Facility. The Protoss version of the Terran Factory?
IMSeed manages to get out an Observer and spots a bunch of Hellions at oGsTOP's main.
Hello, little Hellions.
IMSeed is well-prepared for the Hellion drop, forcing oGsTOP to retreat his Medivac upon seeing the Stalkers and Sentries.
IMSeed: No way are you getting anywhere near my Probes.
IMSeed having a Probe at his natural, probably thinking of expanding, then opts against getting his expansion and decides to build two more Gateways as well as a Stargate.
Meanwhile, oGsTOP begins to transition into a bio army and has a Raven out. The Terran player then manages to snipe the Observer of IMSeed, which was sitting just next to his main.
The Observer staring at its death.
IMSeed then gets a Phoenix out on the field while oGsTOP constantly tries to poke at IMSeed's ramp with Hellions, but is fended off by Stalkers.
oGsTOP then tries to expand, building his Command Center next to his third expansion area. IMSeed decides to continue with his one-base play and begins Immortal and Void Ray production.
Now oGsTOP decides on getting a Ghost Academy and begins Concussive Shells and Combat Shield research for his bio army. However, as soon as IMSeed spots oGsTOP finishing his expansion, he decides to move out for the attack.
The ninja Probe sees the SCVs mining at oGsTOP's expansion.
As IMSeed's army move out, oGsTOP's Hellions manage to enter and kill off a bunch of Probes before getting killed by a Stalker. But it wouldn't really matter as IMSeed's weird army mix of Stalkers, Immortals and Void Rays easily steamrolls oGsTOP's army.
oGsTOP's face says it all. A very unique build by IMSeed, proving to be extremely successful in this game.
The Terran player tries to morph his Command Center at his expansion into a Planetary Fortress as a desperation move but it would be of no help as IMSeed pushes into the main and begins killing off all the Terran production buildings.
oGsTOP takes a moment to swallow the defeat and concedes the game shortly after.

Lost Temple — IMSeed (P) vs oGsHyperdub (T)
IMSeed starts at the 12 o'clock position while oGsHyperdub starts at the 9 o'clock position. IMSeed opens up with the same build he did in the last two games, which is a 12 Gateway into 14 Assimilator. On the other hand, oGsHyperdub decides to go for the one Barracks into fast expansion build as he does not take his gas.
oGsHyperdub boldly builds his Command Center on the low ground.
oGsHyperdub then manages to sneak an SCV into the Protoss main and manages to see IMSeed getting a second Assimilator.
IMSeed decides to poke at the Terran's expansion with a Stalker and a Zealot.
No Bunker to run into, eh!
The attack manages to kill two Marines, but IMSeed loses his Zealot. Meanwhile, IMSeed decides to hide an expansion at the 3 o'clock position before building two more Gateways and researching Hallucination.
How costly will this prove to be if oGsHyperdub doesn't spot this?
Meanwhile, oGsHyperdub already has three Barracks and is researching Stimpack now that Concussive Shells upgrade is finished.
As Hallucination is finished, IMSeed decides to push out and Hallucinates an Immortal to trick oGsHyperdub into thinking that it might be a Immortal and Sentry push.
Peek-a-boo! Bet you didn't expect an Immortal coming, did ya'?
The Terran player then throws down an additional Bunker and pulls almost all his SCVs at his natural to prepare for the "push". IMSeed has now successfully put oGsHyperdub in a defensive position. He takes advantage of that by getting his third base at his natural.
Volume III: Mind Games by IMSeed.
IMSeed retreats his army back and Hallucinates a Phoenix to scout the Terran main as he techs up to Twilight Council. Meanwhile, oGsHyperdub techs to Ghost Academy and decides to push out with a large Marine and Marauder army.
IMSeed's army is caught at the Xel' Naga Watch Tower and he loses all his Sentries and almost all of his Stalkers, leaving oGsHyperdub free to advance to the Protoss natural.
Not even a million years of developing something called Force Fields could save IMSeed's army in this battle.
oGsHyperdub then destroys the Nexus at the natural, but then retreats his army, probably thinking he has a huge lead right now but he still is unaware of IMSeed's hidden base.
Kabooooommmmm!
However, in the midst of that battle, IMSeed has already built a Dark Shrine and warps in four Dark Templars to harass oGsHyperdub's base. As he does that, he rebuilds his Nexus at the natural.
The Dark Templar forces all the SCVs to leave the Terran main to head to the natural while the IM team look on in wonder as IMSeed is dominating oGs's Terrans.
After dealing with the Dark Templar harassment, oGsHyperdub finally manages to scout IMSeed's hidden base with a Marine. IMSeed is upgrading Charge for his Zealots while oGsHyperdub awaits the arrival of his Raven before moving out.
IMSeed decides to position his army at the bottom Xel' Naga Watch Tower as oGsHyperdub decides to go for the Protoss main with four Ghosts in his army. Leaving his natural to die for the second time, IMSeed has a small army at the top of his ramp at the main and continuously Force Fields the ramp to prevent the Terran army from moving up.
As this is happening, the bulk of the Protoss army heads towards oGsHyperdub's base for a counter-attack. This forces a lift-off from all the Terran production structures, leaving oGsHyperdub unable to produce any units at this time.
Possible base trade scenario that doesn't involve MarineKingPrime?
A nice EMP by oGsHyperdub prevents further Force Fields on the ramp and he manages to break into the Protoss main and starts tearing up the Protoss production structures. However, IMSeed retreats his army at the Terran base and manages to get a good surround on oGsHyperdub's army with the help of some Probes.
The end of oGsHyperdub.
IMSeed manages to kill the Terran army and oGsHyperdub concedes the game after having nothing left.

Scrap Station — IMSeed (P) vs oGsMC (P)
IMSeed starts at the 12 o'clock position while oGsMC starts at the 2 o'clock position of the map. IMSeed immediately sends out a Probe to oGsMC's base. He builds a proxy Pylon right outside of oGsMC's natural and immediately gets two Gateways right away at 9 supply.
Is this the end of oGs?
Luckily for oGsMC, he sent out an early scout and manages to see that something is not right. He uses one of his Probe at his main to scout his natural and finds the two Gateways. His immediate response:
Forge.
IMSeed manages to get out three Zealots while oGsMC only has one Zealot out and tries to build a Photon Cannon. With some good micro, IMSeed manages to kill off the Photon Cannon while in production but oGsMC manages to recover as he boxes another of his Photon Cannon with a Pylon.
Two Zealots killing off the Photon Cannon which was in production.
IMSeed then goes straight for oGsMC's mineral line but once the Photon Cannon is complete, IMSeed's attack begins to falter.
The Photon Cannon rescues the day for oGsMC.
IMSeed tries again to go for oGsMC's mineral line with three Zealots, but oGsMC builds another Photon Cannon and with some good micro and positioning with his Zealots, hold off the attack of IMSeed.
Both players then tech into Cybernetics Core to get Stalkers out with oGsMC being the faster of the two. oGsMC then adds a second Gateway as he decides to Chrono Boost Warpgate research while IMSeed decides to Chrono Boost Stalker production.
oGsMC sacrificing his Zealots in order to finish Warpgate research and start getting more Stalkers out.
IMSeed then pushes in once again and this time manages to take out the Photon Cannon. However, with Warpgate research complete, oGsMC manages to get the higher Stalker count to push IMSeed back.
oGsMC: No more seeds for you, little boy!
oGsMC then kills off the Pylon powering the two Gateways and IMSeed is forced to concede the game. Could oGsMC go on and reverse all-kill IM?

IMMvp looks like he means business.
IMMvp starts at the top right position while oGsMC starts at the bottom left position of the map. IMMvp opens up with a 12 Barracks, 13 Refinery build while oGsMC goes for the standard 12 Gateway, 14 Assimilator build.
oGsMC though opts for his second gas before his Cybernetics Core is even complete. IMMvp manages to scout this with his SCV but the Stalker kills it as it is leaving the base.
IMMvp then decides to go for Concussive Shells upgrade and builds a Command Center at the top of his ramp.
What will oGsMC's response be to this?
oGsMC gets two additional Gateways as well deciding to tech to Twilight Council. The Protoss player then tries to hide a proxy Pylon behind the bushes of IMMvp's natural.
IMMvp transitions into a three Barracks build and researches Stimpack. At the same time, he shows great game sense by scouting the proxy Pylon and killing it.
Is there anyone out there that is able to hide anything from IMMvp?
oGsMC then builds a Dark Shrine as he gears up for Dark Templars. However, IMMvp yet again able to know what his opponent is doing, decides to build an Engineering Bay.
oGsMC thinks he's got it by hiding his Dark Shrine well, but doesn't he know IMMvp is that good at figuring things out?
As oGsMC begins moving out with his army, IMMvp is already well-prepared for the attack with a Bunker and a Missile Turret in production at his natural.
IMMvp showing why he's the best of the best. Perfect timing on his defense setup.
oGsMC then warps in three Dark Templars and tries to enter IMMvp's natural from the back with one of them. He sees that IMMvp has Missile Turrets up, and decides to morph his remaining two Dark Templars into an Archon. Right as it is done morphing, oGsMC decides to attack into IMMvp's army.
Can oGsMC break through IMMvp's defense?
IMMvp does well to hold and kills off oGsMC's army. He then sends an SCV out to scout and sees that oGsMC still does not have an expansion up. oGsMC decides to transition into a six Warpgate play while IMMvp transitions into a five Barracks play.
With Dark Templars around the map, oGsMC decides to expand.
Dark Templars. They're everywhere!
After saving a couple of scans, IMMvp decides to move out and pushes towards oGsMC's expansion. The Protoss and Terran army collide, but with some good Force Fields, oGsMC manages to push the Terran army back.
Sentries: You shall not pass!
After the engagement, oGsMC builds a Templar Archives while IMMvp starts his Ghost Academy production. The food supply at this point though is heavily one-sided as IMMvp has 130 supply against oGsMC's 76 supply.
After reinforcing his army along with a Ghost, IMMvp decides to push again. Psi Storm is finished for oGsMC and he already has High Templars on the field. Both players engage in another battle yet again and IMMvp manages to nullify most of oGsMC's Sentries with a good EMP but the High Templars manage to do significant damage.
oGsMC's final stand.
IMMvp steamrolls over the Protoss army and even drops some MULEs in the middle of the battlefield.
The aftermath of the engagement and some manner MULEs by IMMvp.
IMMvp kills off the expansion and moves into the Protoss main. At the same time, he even has a Factory landed at the Protoss base and produces some Hellions. Not giving up, oGsMC still warps in some High Templars to defend.

IMSeed showed us some incredible games in this match. Despite opting to go for the four-Warpgate against oGsEnsnare, he played exceptionally well in his next two games against oGsTOP and oGsHyperdub respectively.
His unique strategy of opting for Immortals, Void Rays and Stalkers against oGsTOP has left everyone baffled as to how can one respond towards that army composition after getting early Hellions.
He also showed great play by stopping the early Hellion drop attempts from oGsTOP and played a mind-blowing game on Lost Temple against oGsHyperdub. Going for Hallucination to fake a timing push while double-expanding, that was just amazing.
He also showed great decision-making towards the end as he went for oGsHyperdub's production structures rather than to defend his natural.
Although he lost to oGsMC with a rather all-in play, he helped drain oGsMC's concentration that little bit with his proxy Gateways, which allowed IMMvp a much easier time to take down the final player from oGs in the fifth game.

A superb showing by team Incredible Miracle, although it was rather one player that played surprisingly well.
IMSeed did a great job of taking out Old Generations' top Terran players, and IMMvp finished the job by taking out oGsMC in the fifth game.
One wonders how strong really is this IM team. As for oGs, it is a rather disappointing performance from their players considering the level of play expected from them. Their Terran players did not show up in this match and oGsMC had to face an incredibly hard uphill battle against a star-studded IM team and he ended up losing that battle.
Congratulations to team IM and good luck in the next team league to team oGs!
