I have to agree with you. Stallone puts a 'working man' feeling on the whole series, regardless of how crazy the storyline gets, it still resonates in the basic, childlike enthusiasm we all feel, getting behind the italian stallion. It's a masterstroke, especially the first 3 films, which all have unique elements. Apollo Creed is an absolutely fantastic character.

Hear Hear, Atom. I'm only 19 but i somehow feel that I missed the best times classic films like Rocky and great music.
Maybe I'm an old soul I love ROCKY! :D this is the unofficial TL Rocky Balboa fanclub xD

Rocky 1 and Balboa were the best. 2/3/4 were pretty good, but 5 was terrible.
Anyway, its good he stopped at Balboa, he was 60 when that film got made. Besides, Rocky can only come out of retirement so many times.

dont get me wrong, I dont want him to make another Rocky, the series wrapped up beautifully with Balboa. I'm just sad that it's over

lol Rocky V is miles ahead of many "A" movies that come out now? I don't think so...

I wouldn't say that the fifth movie was bad at all. The second and third are my least favourite I guess. The fourth was always my favourite because it has this HIGH STAKES feeling.

Rocky I was amazing.
2 was great as well, with Rocky becoming the Champ.
3 was not as great, loved Mr. T and Creed in it though.
4 was very tacky, and also I didnt like Creed's death ( ) but the fight between Drago and Rocky was really great.
5 was a great personal story, IMO the real failure of the 5th rocky was the actor that played Tommy, really disliked him.
VI was also amazing.
I and VI were the best imo

Rocky IV was amazing 'cuz he basically ended the cold war by himself.
"During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"

Omg Rocky V was so fucking bad dude.
That bit at the end where Rocky knocks down Tommy Gun and in perfect cheesy Hollywood style the crowd cheers, inspirational music starts, and the bad guy goes 'God damn.' in a way that let's you know even though he lost he can't help but respect Rocky. Cringe.
Rocky I is the only good one. Before Paulie (...was that his name?) is nothing more than shite comic relief, before Adrianne became a screechy annoying bitch and before Creed and Rocky got all chummy and homo erotic (not that there's anything wrong with that - just the cheesy 80's style it was done in). Basically everything past 3 at a stretch is a parody of itself.

I don't know what Rocky V you were watching, but it was clear that Tommy respected Rocky, otherwise why seek him out as a trainer? He was jealous and petty (and a bad actor)

Nah I meant the black manager dude.

I usually get weird looks when I say it, but Stalone is an incredibly smart man and talented artist. A lot of people can't get past the way he talks, but the actual things he's saying are really insightful. When you watch the commentary on VI you see just how much he thinks about everything...
They're not just classics, they're masterpieces worthy of analysis.

the dude didnt respect Rocky, seconds later he's like 'touch me i'll sue' and then laughs like an asshat in Rocky's face before being punched out

Rocky I was the most inspiring movie ever!!! I still get some tears when I watch the scene that was posted above.
Excluding Rocky V, I really loved the other Rocky movies but Rocky I is just the best one.

Half of his mouth is paralysed or something. That's why he talks so funny.

Where some people are thrown off by it, it's also something that made him unique and easier to latch onto. But I don't just mean what he sounds like (I thought that was just an accent.. haha), I mean he sayings things like 'Don't bother me none' and people think that's indicative of a lack of intelligence... But it's really not.
